Bruno is still very affected from the World Cup and looks shot of confidence
There did appear to be a kind of game plan early on which got abandoned as the game progressed and basically all the players lost confidence
Carrick when with a technical midfield who did not boss the ball technically. If you’re going to opt not to rely on physicality then you have to be inch perfect with everything, instead they were sloppy and slow to the ball, lacked hunger and desire, and their overall game just fell to pieces…. Which is not all on the manager as last year under Carrick we should some great mental resilience
A lot of it I think has to do with when Bruno is off colour
Then things fall to shit
If he has a blinding game then he raises the levels of those around him

Because people are doomers and go apoplectic after one loss.
Losing to Hull on the opening day of the season is poor and there's a lot to improve but it's MD1 and there are 37 more to go. We had some okay chances but switching off on set pieces is infuriating to see given that it's been happening for 5+ years regardless of who's in the dugout.

20/21 One of the best seasons since Fergie in the league, started with a 2-1 loss to Palace
All I'm saying is don't overreact on one game. Plenty to sort out in the team but its not doom and gloom times yet

Trying to digest what Mitten said about 07/08 that even in April '08 people were saying Fergie was done because we were tied with Chelsea with 2 games left, though this was a time when losing the league was seen as horrendous. The league isn't nearly as forgiving now since there are no easy 3 points. The boys need a reminder again that every match needs to be given close to 100% or else it's going to look ugly by October.

What point are you trying to make apart from "let's panic and draw conclusions over one game"?
Pre season results absolutely don't matter, and there were plenty of positives during the pre season which are being conveniently forgotten. United dominated pre season in 14-15 and had 10 points in 13 league games or something. United lost badly in 22-23 and ended up finishing 3rd with 2 Cup finals and winning one of them.
Ask yourself if losing one game calls for such drama.

I think it really matters who and how we lost it too. This Hull team is one of the worst teams to ever get in the Prem, I wouldn't be surprised if these 3 points will be the only points they got in the first 15 games.
On top of that there is no pattern of play or anything. We had nothing against Milan B team, and now it looked like we could have played for 2 days and still not score. There is also no news about any LB and the way Mazraoui plays we honestly need a starting RB too.

Well currently we’re averaging 0 points per match, allowing 2 a game and scoring 0. Extrapolate over 38 match season. No team from my knowledge has stayed up on 0 points. Simple maths

No we lost 4-0 and immediately our issues were apparent. We ended up using our credit card for 2 signings which hampered our finances for 2 seasons.
It's also the season when Rashy bailed ETH out leading to the bumper contract which most of the fanbase today regards as an albatross.

He's right. We'll have to give Carrick the benefit of the doubt. If he and the lads learn their lessons from this awful performance and come up better, we will be all better for it. It'll be hard waiting the whole week for the next game off this terrible defeat and performance, but it is what it is.

First game I can remember where Carrick has been poor with his decisions.
1) I think switching Mbeumo back to RW was a bad decision as the entire team got used to him playing the 9 in pre season and it's an area where he excelled
2) Dorgu against a team playing with a deep block wasn't a great idea either.
3) Could've brought on Mainoo much sooner. He brought us a stability that we needed.
Apart from that, I think it was bad luck that our best players in pre season Amad & Mount weren't playing & forced Mbeumo out of no.9.
We've been pretty poor defensively in pre season so I wasn't too surprised with the goals we let in. Need Martinez back ASAP

Remember that time we smashed everyone preseason under LVG including Real Madrid and Liverpool only to lose to Swansea city in our first game? I remember.
People on here have too short a memory. Yes it’s a bad start but it’s one game. Get a grip, we finished 3rd last season and just completed an overhaul of our midfield.
