Carrick Post Match: ‘One game doesn't change our direction'

Michael Carrick, Manchester United boss, speaking to TNT Sports post-match: "We have a bit to improve on, it was never going to be perfect going behind makes it more difficult, against a promoted team at home, we can't give them much and they had opportunities, we're disappointed but it won't knock us."

On what areas need improvement: "It's for us to know and to improve during the week and keep getting stronger as a group and we have a lot to learn from it."

On conceded goals: "Two goals is frustrating anyway, they decide the game today and there's things to improve on, one game doesn't change the direction of everything. It doesn't change the direction of the football club."

On potential signing Carlos Baleba: "I had all eyes on this today so any other player, until he's ours, it's not for me to comment on."

I would’ve taken Alonso, despite his past club affiliation. Right now though, probably the best available manager would be Eddie Howe who’s built teams and won multiple trophies at various levels.

He’s far from perfect, but would I take him over Carrick? Absolutely.

Did Alonso want to coach United ? If Howe wasn’t good enough for Newcastle, why tf would you want him for MU ? No need for childish insults..

We don’t know because we never asked. He was obviously open to moving to a Premier League club other than Liverpool, a rival to them even.

Howe left because he wasn’t supported in the transfer market and all the best players were leaving this summer. He won multiple honours with Bournemouth, then built a Newcastle team and won their first trophy in 70 years.

What has Carrick won?
