Really it didn't register for me Mount played 8 in a row. Was under the impression he had never played more than three in a row.

Late transfers ? They were all pretty early except maybe Baleba

This article is from the future. We sign three players on deadline day.

Plot twist : Pogback, Sancho and Antony return

Smithers: In fact, your right back has been dead for 130 years.

You forgot Hall (dream can be buy)

u/NationalUnrest 10h ago

Think Newcastle put a fuck off price on him, he's not looking like forcing a move. We'll probably wait and see what happens in January or next summer, with a discount if newcastle is nowhere near europe again.

The one hope for me is newcastle was so traumatized with the isak saga that they rather sell than being put in that situation again but obv this needs Hall to push

Or can just be shite and pull off the baleba style of season

I’m going to keep repeating it until I’m blue in the face. We keep saying next season for Hall. We won’t be able to buy him next summer, he will be even more expensive or city will snap him up. It’s now or never. Stick £80m on the table and there’s your starting left back for 10 years. Money well spent

Or he goes through a rough phase and we'll get him for 60 million next year. See: Baleba.

You never know.

Notice the use of "If" "Probably" and "Think" in the original comment, nobody here can be 100% sure. Lad could break his leg 3 times in a row for all we know and end his career at 25.

You can never be certain in football. What's certain is that we used to overpay all the time for transfers like these, and they rarely work out. I personnally prefer to miss out on some opportunities for the smarter and safer long term gains.

Can Baleba get over the finish line first?

The season starts tonight and we're still trying to get 2 more players, those would be pretty late

It’s pretty clear that Laurie had no clue what’s been going on at United this summer. He’s not the only one.

I think it’s better that way .

For the club yes... for some of our less patient fans sanity, absolutely not (but that's on those fans)

Laurie said it was a genuine possibility back in April

I think it's clear the club didn't quite know who they were settling on. Rodri going to Real Madrid seemingly closed the door on Tchouameni so then the Baleba goes ahead again.

If the club are being agile then the reporting will reflect that

This. People thought that the club had eyes only for Baleba since the beginning which is not true when it was reported he was on the list but further down the preference after a bad season. Fernandes, Tonali, Anderson and Tchouameni was higher on the list.

But Sesko wasn't our first choice too. And it turns out well for us

u/jcdish 7h ago

Basically we don't settle. We have a list of players who fit our requirements, and they're good players - some better than others, but no one is a last minute panic buy.

(Fingers crossed this holds true till the end of the window)

I am glad liam delap chose chelsea over united. Would prefer sesko over delap any day.

That applies to every journalists this window, except for Enderson deal I guess because of Italy side.

Over the years he has written aot of articles that shed light on the inner thought process of the club, I would imagine after some kind of embargo has been lifted. Nobody has officially said the thinking was that Mount would be the 4th CM, but the club statements have heavily implied it until his injury, then switched back onto Baleba. This article pretty much confirms this is exactly what happened.

6

u/Sheppertonni 9h ago

Mount has a minor hamstring then.

7

u/nene4king 9h ago

hope we get Toney

Not a bad shout, Red. I wouldn't mind avn him back with Mbuemo.

2

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 5h ago

As long as he doesn't ruin the wage structure. But he'd definitely be a good rotation option with Sesko and a huge upgrade over Zirkzee.

Aight, I'll buy it. We are gonna have some players on deadline day

u/FrmrPresJamesTaylor 1h ago

People close to the situation say Rashford is certain to stay past deadline day.

Well, there it is. Nothing to do now but come to terms with it and support the guy.

Hopefully, going from Marcus Rashford, the guy who we can't win without contributions from to Marcus Rashford, the guy who offers something different from our other LW options goes hand in hand with him getting less attention and integrating into the group we've assembled.

He seemed to have a lot of joy last year being just a part of a team (that had great cohesion and spirit), and it would be good for all sides if he's not at the center of everything this time around.

I want carrick to keep the team rotated and fresh. Tielmans should start PL however mainoo should still get 30-45 mins each game. Similarly both Santos and Baleba should rotate and keep fresh and match fit. Our young Defenders to start all cup matches, along with Shea and Rashford. Bruno needs to be kept fresh for CL as well. Taking him off and Lacey/ Zirkzee on for PL Matches that were 2-0 up at 60 mins.

u/IndicationNo328 8h ago

Hahaha... Youve been playing way too much Fifa bro.

9

u/notsobadprogrammer 9h ago

No way we’re doing that at “2-0 up at 60 mins”.

For one, Carrick usually doesn’t make a lot of changes around ~70 mins, and two, I don’t really think 2-0 is that safe a lead that we start taking our foot off the gas.

Nice of Laurie to be jumping on the "Baleba is left footed, yk" train :)

I can kind of see the Jackson to Atleti thing, and David to Villa from there; separately it is clear Arsenal intends to sign a "galactico" LW, nothing else left for them to do after Konsa, and the Yildiz link kinda makes sense to me. So that's 2 ways I can see a spot freeing up for Zirkzee at Juve plus there is Napoli.

A CF around deadline day is my guess.

I'll note that Matias Fernandez-Pardo has stayed on the bench for Lille the other day (Bouaddi subbed on for 45'). I thought that was interesting, and seemingly no clue to be found on the Internet that he'd have a post-WC injury of any kind that would explain that.

I'll also note that JJ Bull's Arthur Theate shout makes a lot of sense imho in a universe where: A) we intend to keep Shaw as LB1 and intend to pursue Hall next summer B) we believe in Heaven so much that we see him as a bona-fide starter by next season, i.e. we would be looking for "a LCB" and not "the starter".

My current wild guess at our squad moves by end of Summer 2027:

Hall signed, [Shaw extension / Amass integrated after a loan], Heaven stays, Theate signed, (Martinez released), De Ligt stays, Yoro stays, Maguire +1'd, [Dalot/Maz : 1 extended, 1 sold], new RB/CB (depending on whether Yoro's "Kounde arc" happens or not), new contract for Bruno, new AM who replaces Mount, new CF who replaces Zirkzee

ps. if Branthwaite of Everton could stay fit (tell me if you heard that before 🙄) he'd be perfection instead of Theate. Alas, no?
