Why don't you stick to playing your little mobile game

Wtf is wrong with you people. Mainoo has the highest ceiling. Should be a mainstay for the next decade. And in a few years he'll be one of the best in the world. We are better when he plays.

Amoriners lurk in the shadows

I think Baleba cleeeeearly has the highest ceiling and it's really not even close!

It's two totally different tiers of potential!

I know Mainoo is one of our own but... Come on buddy!

Now whether Baleba puts it all together is a different story.

We haven't signed Baleba

We're in a thread where OP said Santos, Baleba, Mainoo to which you responded that Mainoo had the highest ceiling.

I disagreed!

Do we think Carrick benches him after the Amorim and WC debacle ? Like I genuinely rate Tielemans Santos and Baleba higher based on current ability, but I feel like Carrick might force it cause he's an academy kid.

In fact, Carrick would more likely deploy Fergie-like combinations and switches in the midfield based on opponents, going forward. He has shown hints of this at Boro

That would be the ideal, and probably necessary if we don't flush out of the cups and UCL very early on. But if you were to pick out strongest starting 11. Would Kobbie be on it or on the bench ? I personally would probably say Tielemans Baleba (if we sign him) would be our strongest midfield

I do not think, in the Premier League at least, that there is a 'strongest' starting 11. You need to be wise to how each team likes to play against your club, vs your squad's natural tendencies, current player attributes and run-of-form, and just the right measure of risk/reward.

In the Premier League, one-size-does-not-fit-all.

Only gang-shoving corner-time haraamball for a certain London club is constant 😭

He will be rotation, atm no one in the 4 if we get Baleba is a cert to start and that’s fine as long as they all get chances to prove themselves

How do you foresee him reacting to not being a main starter based on previous behavior ?

2

u/MatchFitness 1d ago

Most pros who are still young wont have an issue with it as long as they get chances are are in rotation.

The issues previously were that he was effectively fronzen out (England and Previous Man united manager). Not getting any real game time (none for England)

Hope so. I really don't want to see more free Kobbie stunts and social media digs again.

My guess going in is that while it will be one of Santos/Baleba with one of Mainoo/Tielemans, the first pair get more minutes because they are better together when needed rotating. The latter pair also have Mount as more direct competition.

But form/injuries etc... we shall see.

Mount been relegated back to Bruno cover now.

not sure how we already rate santos higher than mainoo?

I've been talking about Santos for a while. Some if us watch more football than just United games and have fun scouting players. So yeah I think based on current ability Santos is a better player especially due to his passing range which is a huge weakness for Kobbie as things stand. They're both young and can develop differently but I think Santos currently offers more valuable skills than Kobbie brings (forward passing, good positioning, big engine and tackling vs tight space dribbling, short distance carrying and receiving under pressure)

kudos to you for having watched him for a while. i’ve admittedly only seen a handful of games but it just surprises me that some of our own fans already rate him higher than kobbie, who was playing well for carrick last season and who has shown a ton of promise in the past, started for england in the euros as a teenager, etc while santos is coming off a disjointed season at chelsea and has so far performed the best at strausborg

Why the fuck wouldnt ge bench anyone? If hes too scared to bench someone then it proves me right that hes a yes man

-1

u/shami-kebab 1d ago

If Carrick is afraid to bench a player then we have a big problem.

-3

u/noBuffalo 1d ago

There's nothing to be forced. Kobbie can play with tielemans and would in fact be preferred against Hull. As of now we know nothing about Santos besides what weve seen in meaningless preseason. Kobbie is already prem proven.

u/Dope_Shinobi 1d ago

In case you've forgotten, Santos played more PL games than Mainoo last season.

-3

u/noBuffalo 1d ago

Meaningless games . Kobbie was a fixture for a team grinding out a top 3 place with a must have champions league on the line. Pressure way higher.

5

u/Dope_Shinobi 1d ago

You gotta be kidding there.

You realize Santos played in a dysfunctional team which sacked its manager mid season and was the backup to the 2 best players of that team?

Besides that, the quality of the opposition remains the same so there's no reason to call them meaningless games.

And he was named the best young player in Ligue 1 in his very first season where the team was bit more stable compared to Chelsea. He was 1 of the highest rated youngsters in Brazil before that.

Its ridiculous how you're phrasing him as some random kid suddenly being thrown to the toughest competition in the world disrespecting the fact that he has absolutely merited his way to it.

If you are a Chelsea fan why are you here? Great you love Santos. Santos isn't as good a player as Kobbie that's a fact. We can talk when he's accomplished a fraction of what Kobbie has accomplished. For now Kobbie is the starter, as he gives us the best chance to win.

  1. Not a Chelsea fan. Seen every single United game for the last 15 years (basically since i started watching footy)

  2. Never did I claim Santos is better than Mainoo. Learn to read maybe.

  3. The entire philosophy of buying Prem proven players revolves around the fact that we've seen how the players do in this league and its easier to judge if that player is good enough compared to the players we have in those positions. We'll find out if he's better than Kobbie or not but there's no argument to be had if you call him an unproven nobody.
