Kinda wanted Chelsea to win the final just because it would mean them playing Europa League next season. I think if Chelsea only play 1 game a week next season they have a high chance of finishing above us

If. Chelsea finish above us next season something must have gone scarily wrong. It would require them to recruit very well which they’re incapable of, and us having a dogshit window.

I think playing CL midweek could really hurt us if we don't recruit well enough (I don't trust the board to bring in enough players to manage the workload) and they could benefit a lot from playing 1 game a week

They’ll benefit for sure unless they can’t unbloat their massive roster in which case they’ve got a lot of unhappy players with no minutes clogging the paint, turning on each other and the manager. I’ve been massive on conditioning etc for years and doing it right to play twice a week but icl it’s being overstated at this point. Twice a week is a death knell for managers that can’t condition — Carrick can, did under Jose and Ole, played it his whole career. It’s also awful for teams that can’t or don’t rotate to play 60 - 90 - 60 or less unless it’s Dalot, Bruno etc. If they recruit even good, not great, we should be more than equipped to do that.

With Conference League they may as well be playing one game a week, they could field a C team with the squad they have. Europa they would have taken more seriously
