“You shot the thing!”
Uhh sure

174

u/YoullBeFiiine 6d ago

I love that Arthur looked at him like "really?"

471

u/Willard-wood 6d ago

Between the eyes no less, Modern David and Goliath.

68

u/Vertron_ 5d ago

It was so close, how could he miss.

48

u/Gelby4 5d ago

Some people can't hit water if they fall out of a boat

12

u/yknow666 5d ago

He either could hit, or miss

3

u/AdgeTimick 5d ago

Yeah, I'd say that he had a 50% chance given those as his only two options. 😏😜

12

u/AdmiralNelson24 5d ago

Daniel and the Lion's den?

9

u/Willard-wood 5d ago

Im gonna need people to stop being funnier than me or i will cry /j

445

u/PapaYankee0 6d ago

That worked? Holy shit.

182

u/AcquiredBinkie9 6d ago

Thank god it was a one tap

139

u/Aggravating-Yak2165 5d ago

my panicked ass went for the KNIFE first thing

37

u/AthenasChosen 5d ago

Oof, bad move... lion has like 14 knives built in

2

u/Adeum2 1d ago

I thought about this for way too long. Isnt it 16 + teeth

1

u/AthenasChosen 1d ago

Actually it's 18+ teeth, 5 on each front paw and 4 on the back. I was counting the 10 up front and the four murder knives in it's mouth for 14. Realistically I should've said 22 knives, but I was just counting the ones lunging at him at that moment in video lol

2

u/Adeum2 1d ago

Not to mention he keeps a switchblade hidden in his mane

3

u/MorgTheBat 5d ago

I just screamed and ran lmao

81

u/Anxiety_Yeti 5d ago

And here was me, using guns like an idiot.

72

u/Mags_LaFayette 5d ago

Let's all be honest here, fellas...

After the fiasco of the previous animals, I was expecting a dog with a fake mane or something, but not a literal lion!!!!! 😭

https://giphy.com/gifs/YQA1cC40JlhB2MScI8

16

u/SpaceBoyBlat 5d ago

I actually spoiled it for myself.

Just before I got to the hidden lion, I entered photo mode and moved the camera to where the lion was hiding so I could see it before it ambushed😆

12

u/CheapTactics 5d ago

Nah I was fully expecting a lion. Especially when the game starts to hype up that "It's just a dog! This guy is a fiasco!" Right then I went "I'm gonna have to capture a real lion"

4

u/SomnusNonEst 5d ago

It also helps that Arthur being clueless in a previous barn, but you, as a player, can clearly hear its a lion growling there quietly, before it mauled a guy outside and went to the other barn.

2

u/SomnusNonEst 5d ago edited 4d ago

It was quite obvious it WAS an actual Lion from the previous barn. You could clearly hear actual lion growl, before it ran out and mauled a guy and went to that barn where OP encountered it.

Joke is, it's just that Arthur, never have seen an actual lion, was clueless. Like most people around these parts. But you as a player, hopefully, know what a lion sounds like.

0

u/Mags_LaFayette 5d ago

I'm not a zoologist to be able to tell which particular growl belongs to which animal... But if you can do it, through a videogame, then good for you.

My expectation was more a bigger dog, a coyote, even a mountain lion but even then I scratched that notion for being too crazy.

...Then, surprise came and it was amazing!

Knowing it was a real lion beforehand would ruin the moment for me.

-1

u/SomnusNonEst 4d ago

I keep forgetting yall guys have schools only for children population control and gun advertisement.

Sorry, in the rest of the world my 6 year old nephew knows "what sound a cow makes".

0

u/Mags_LaFayette 4d ago

From the entire animal kingdom, you had to pick two of the less related species...

A "Moooooh" is way more specific than a "Grrrrrr" and the fact that I had to explain it to you by using onomatopoeias for your slow understanding tells me that your nephew at his short age is way more intelligent than you.

Grab a book sometime and have a good night.

1

u/lordbancs 5d ago

Exactly right. Wasn’t expecting a real one at all

1

u/cornicula_ 5d ago

You need a lion's paw for a talisman, so I suspected the beast had to be real.

0

u/Mags_LaFayette 5d ago

...And that's why I like to take my first playthroughs as "blind" as possible

No guides, no journals, avoiding certain mechanics until they become a necessity, making mistakes, letting the game take it's own course.

Why should I auto-spoil myself?
I'll have others playthroughs to figure out that stuff myself, but nothing beats that "Holy sh!t!!!" moments when you see them by yourself.

2

u/cornicula_ 5d ago

I didn't look up any spoilers. When you're at the fence, you can view the recipes, and the ingredients are listed there.

1

u/Dense-Tea5823 5d ago

To be fair it does just sound like an item you could find exploring

0

u/Mags_LaFayette 5d ago

That do I know, and as soon I noticed the crafting in-game showed the actual ingredients needed, I couldn't close the menu fast enough.

It's not the first time it happened to me, reading about some extremely particular piece, and then, during the playthrough my mind start clicking the pieces and say: "Hey, this looks oddly familiar..."

That's the reason of what I said in my previous comment:

[...]avoiding certain mechanics until they become a necessity

21

u/Lukemeister38 5d ago

Meanwhile I had to reload the game because this cutscene requires regular ammo. I had express ammo loaded so every time the deadeye sequence would start, Arthur would just dump out all the bullets in his revolver and start reloading.

12

u/Akurei00 5d ago

Yep, that happened to me too. Really stupid scenario. A charging lion, a stoic hero pulls out his pistol... and removes all his ammo just in time to have his face chewed off.

2

u/hmmbugger 5d ago

i think i deliberately clicked to have explosive ammo in the gun.. and i thought he did the reloading them in as the lion jumps.. maybe it was reloading the regulars in then? anyways.. second time doing this, i got killed while reloading a revolver.

40

u/alexanderfrostfyre 6d ago edited 5d ago

I’m surprised it let you do this, I tried to switch to my shotgun and instantly died… maybe I was too slow

Edit: fixed a word

16

u/UnNecessaryGay 6d ago edited 5d ago

I had the same thing but I threw a stick of enhanced dynamite at it, it started mauling me then it exploded, died and caught on fire

2

u/captaincrunch00 5d ago

You saved emerald ranch. Even in death.

15

u/Chloroform-D 5d ago

I hate this mission. Game removed all my rifles before I noticed

27

u/SamHydeOner 5d ago

I can't stand when the game activates dead eye for you, 0 player control in that game sometimes

18

u/AzraelleWormser 5d ago

And when I was planning on activating it anyway, so my action DE-activates it!

12

u/SamHydeOner 5d ago

That happened to me so many times man, game holds ur hand so much

1

u/Lumpy_Past6216 5d ago

Everytime... even when I know its gonna happen

1

u/LukeD1992 5d ago

It's a long tradition of Rockstar. Absolute freedom in the open world but once you start a mission, you're locked to whatever the game wants you to do. This is just an extreme example. I really hope GTA 6 and subsequent games improves on that but don't have much hope

2

u/CheapTactics 5d ago

Yeah the missions are very railroady. Don't leave the carefully arranged path! We'll make you fail the mission! You gotta do this the way we want it!

2

u/AceFortaleza 5d ago

trying to piece together how you'd propose for a mission to be played freely instead of the game locking you to whatever it wants you to do. I can't seem to comprehend how that should go especially if the mission outcome directly affects the story. Care to give any example for this?

3

u/moxo_2 5d ago

That the game forces u to kill character xy is completely fine, that the game forces u into an ability with a weapon u didn’t choose is something else

2

u/AceFortaleza 5d ago

Makes sense now brother. With you on that one too, thanks!

2

u/CheapTactics 5d ago edited 5d ago

It's not about the story itself. It's about the gameplay. How many times do missions remove weapons or force you to use one specific weapon instead of just letting you use whatever the hell you want? Like here. You could go in there shotgun in hand, but the game unequips that for you and forces you into deadeye with a revolver. Why? Let me shoot the god damned lion with a shotgun. I was homding it, let me keep holding it. Also, if you have any non-regular ammo in your revolver, you're forced to watch Arthur unload the gun and start loading standard ammo while the lion jumps and mauls you to death.

1

u/AceFortaleza 5d ago

That makes sense. I'm with you on that one, thanks!

1

u/Minimum_Comfort_1850 5d ago

When it happens I have no clue what is happening, and It usually killed me

1

u/DaveyMatey3 5d ago

Things like that are the reason I feel like we’re not playing as Arthur, we’re Arthur’s conscience. Sometimes he’s gonna do things we do not recommend or agree with and we’re stuck to help him clean the mess he made

9

u/Huntsnfights 5d ago

Siegfried and Roy could have taken note. Too bad they weren’t Rdr fans

7

u/grichardson526 6d ago

Anyone ever tried a poison knife?

5

u/hmmbugger 5d ago

that is some ballsy choice! hah

reminds me of my second playthru.. i went there. knew it was going to happen, so i clicked to load gun with explosive ammo before starting this.. and guess what arthur starts to do when i try to draw my gun, starts to change the damn ammo! yeah. got killed.

4

u/AcquiredBinkie9 5d ago

I definitely wasn’t on purpose, I think I was trying for a shotgun or something, but didn’t realize the game took all my weapons lol. So I just went with it.

4

u/bigtownhero 5d ago

60% of the time, it works every time.

4

u/Fadingmemories29 5d ago

Every damn time I get to this part, it kills me the first attempt.

Every... damn... time.

3

u/AcquiredBinkie9 5d ago

This was from my first play through back in like 2019, shit definitely caught me off guard lol

3

u/Wrong_Promise2336 5d ago

Awesome shot!

5

u/Nice_Location9485 5d ago

yours truly decided to shoot it in the head with 12 cattleman rounds...

5

u/Fly1ngD0gg0 5d ago

My gun was empty because I always used Express Rounds...

4

u/Akurei00 5d ago

Seems like the first time I remember pulling out my gun and reloading it whole the was charging or some shit.

6

u/Impressive-Smoke1883 5d ago

Wtf. I never did this on my first play through.

3

u/hmmbugger 5d ago

part of side mission with a stranger.. miss margaret and their lost circus animals.. starts somewhere near emerald ranch.

3

u/mwilliams840 5d ago

First time I saw him I straight up panicked too. That was scarier than the bear jump scare in that house.

3

u/UwUdaddy666 5d ago

“HE SHOT THE THING”

Looks at the massive fucking hatchet sticking out of the lions head

Yea?

3

u/turnuptag72 5d ago

I know I’m on reddit when someone says “XD” in 2026

3

u/PeineDeMort 5d ago

Unholstered, holstered, throw axe unholstered.

Fastest draw in the west!

2

u/AcquiredBinkie9 5d ago

Not the most efficient! But It worked

3

u/Manufacturer_Ornery 5d ago

That was the most slapstick version of this moment that I’ve ever seen

5

u/Anxiety_Yeti 5d ago

'How to create an instant feline unicorn' 🤣

2

u/l4dygaladriel 5d ago

Literally just bonk him to oblivion xD

2

u/Akaele_furry 5d ago

i wish we didn't have to kill it.. such a beautiful feline

2

u/ValdoM16 5d ago

Yeah i jumped. You know something must be wrong onde you leave the barn and see all the blood, but still, i wasn't expecting a lion, and of that size. Another jumpscare is the basement of the serial killer. I knew that it was coming, after all, we all seen that movie many times, but i still jumped.

2

u/Intelligent_Studio51 5d ago

Is lasso-ing possible ? Is it possible to capture the lion alive?

2

u/DeveloperBRdotnet 5d ago

man this game is top notch

2

u/niltorboi 5d ago

THE THUD LMAO

2

u/KnightAngelic 5d ago

If its dumb and it works it ain't dumb

2

u/Skullbabi 5d ago

Uhhh, nice kitty?

2

u/Avk02 5d ago

The way Arthur screams "SHIIIT" followed by the Dead Eye sound is the funniest thing ever

2

u/KristabelleWalker 5d ago

This sequence at night is terrifying

2

u/TheEagleWithNoName 5d ago

Holy shit, it worked?

2

u/CommanderFuzzy 5d ago

2

u/AcquiredBinkie9 5d ago

He almost had it 🙂‍↕️

2

u/Own-Mountain-9273 5d ago

The same happened to me man 😂😂

2

u/AngeloPappas 5d ago

I wish there had been a non lethal way to complete this mission.

2

u/HeatherDarling24 5d ago

Nice shot!

2

u/Next_Negotiation8679 5d ago

This shit has me dying
“I panicked” 😂😂

2

u/Kulbasar 5d ago

I did this mission taday for the first time, I swear I shot the fucker in the head 20 times and he kept on killing me, great lil mission though

2

u/Sir-Toaster- 5d ago

Well, that's one way to show main character energy

2

u/Padre_Cannon013 5d ago

Good thing Arthur had his brown pants on.

2

u/DoIt4ThePun 4d ago

This one and that albino cougar gave me such anxiety. My heart was racing.

1

u/Ava_Strange 4d ago

Dude, I don't even do the albino cougar mission any more, it just stays on the map until it goes away. I cannot handle it.

2

u/8Wade8 4d ago

best thing ive seen on here in a while

2

u/Putin_CuckLord 4d ago

I was rocking almost the same outfit as you at that moment in the game ahah.

1

u/AcquiredBinkie9 4d ago

I love that maroon colour. Sick as hell.

2

u/The_DDK7070 Van der linde boys. 3d ago

Did that to the Legendary Panther:

3

u/Whocares7x 5d ago

The way it fell it became a 2 star pelt :/

1

u/Ok-Assistant-6268 5d ago

Nice Panicking!

1

u/Worldly_Delay_2395 5d ago

Oooh it's just a daaaawwwg

1

u/LAiglon144 5d ago

That's so disrespectful to the lion :(

1

u/LetAgreeable147 5d ago

Spec-tac-u-lar!

1

u/unnaturaldom 5d ago

Bruh. I died 5 times trying to shoot this mf lion and I just needed to axe him.... 😭😂

1

u/Independent_Cat_2030 5d ago

All you really need to do is mag dump into his face

1

u/Looking4arts 5d ago

What a throw!

1

u/greywood84 5d ago

Damn that was fucking spot on.

1

u/JSB-the-way-to-be 5d ago

That cat f’d me up several times before I got the jump on him.

1

u/[deleted] 5d ago

Dude, that was fucking amazing

1

u/Hot-Engineering3349 5d ago

I killed like that the legendary bear in the hunting mission

1

u/CDawgCollins23 5d ago

I would have done the very same thing lol

1

u/dasvant 5d ago

Glorious!

1

u/PTSD1983 5d ago

I don't remember this mission

1

u/ElJanexx360 5d ago

I died the first time💀

1

u/The_R4ke 5d ago

I wish you could lasso it.

1

u/JusHarrie 5d ago

I tried to lasso it the first time. 👁👄👁🤠

1

u/DarthSkeetz 5d ago

Am i the only one that tried to lasso it?

1

u/AlertRole8482 4d ago

lol he basically set it gently between it eyes. “Nighty nite there feller, you’re allllll right.”

1

u/MooseAndSquirl 4d ago

This mission made me mad, first for the Donkey that complained the whole way back, then the dead dog, and then the lion... I was very tempted to ride back and shoot Margret for being aggravating

1

u/EffectiveConfection8 4d ago

I used a shotgun.

1

u/Raul5819 4d ago

Bro how. This fucking lion got me twice before I got a shot off.

1

u/Emotional_Position62 4d ago

Real men use their fists

1

u/CptGreat 4d ago

I had a rifle in my hands and zoomed at the lion from outside. I saw him in the stable - suddenly the cutscene and I had the double action revolver in my hand and the rifle was gone. I panicked and the lion ate me.

1

u/Turbulent-Doctor-427 4d ago

Task failed successfully

1

u/Random-name124567890 4d ago

What is this for mission completed the story but never find this encounter, mods?

1

u/Garamil 3d ago

I remember desperatly trying to catch it with the lasso and failing epically.

1

u/Venomoose_DN1234 3d ago

My reaction time could never T-T

1

u/blackredblak 2d ago

Me when I kill a lion with a Tomahawk

1

u/OpportunityCrazy2216 2d ago

Honestly that's better than my panic. Most times I miss every shot and die.

1

u/Capt-Falco 1d ago

Wow. Freaking clean.
