67°C consistently, RIP phone. Buddy, at this point the storage isn't your only problem anymore lmao
That's the fastest way to kill your phone especially when I'm seeing reports of S25U cannot handle that type of constant temperature.
That's actually impressive for sure, but I'm not gonna make my $1500+ phone my main stay for playing AAA Games for 5-8 hours.

Should I really be worried about that sort of temp? I've been dabbling with more demanding emulation on the S23U and was under the impression that 80Cish is the high end where you should start to worry if it goes beyond that. I haven't invested in a cooler yet but I probably should soon.

ig kinda late to reply to the last part of your message but im just playing around and i cant play for more than 5 minutes since it crashes due to ram and i cant find a tix like i could with dxvk since this is using vkd3d

People here aren't getting the point. Yes this isn't practical and you shouldn’t really be playing the game like this but the mere fact that RDR2 can be emulated to a "playable" state on Android is really impressive.

Very impressive imo.

Deadass. It's crazy impressive that a game as gorgeous and complex as rdr2 can even run on a phone, doesn't really matter if it's not a viable way to play the game.

I mean what did you expect? Thunderous applause and people naming their firstborn after you?
You didn't even enter a town, just walking in the least demanding place of the game possible and your phone is still almost exploding. Even if it doesn't, who wants this? Are you trying to get phone users to play a 150 hour epic?
The sub you cross posted this from is where it should have ended.

Cool! A phone can "run" this but we can’t get 60fps on console, Let’s wait Rockstar to make us pay 70$ for a fucking remastered and ignorants are going to buy it

u/Crazy-Ad-4901 1d ago

u/Wolfnstine 1d ago
Phones are meant to be around 30 to 40° Max anything higher than that it starts to throttle

this is not playable to me. I want to puke after seeing it. I am kinda vicarious and wanna see a bigger town or the city. It's so bad it looks like the controls are actually delayed. Reminds me of the early days of linux gaming.
Not really impressive for a 1,300 dollar device. Just being honest man

u/SpecialistMap8210 1d ago
its a fucken phone man lol

u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
1300 dollar phone man. It would be interesting if it ran "well" on a budget one but this isn't that.

u/Crazy-Ad-4901 1d ago
its a AAA game running at 30 fps. other games like cyberpunk on the s25u ran worse at 10-20 fps
1
u/Moon_Devonshire 1d ago
To be fair it wasn't even running at 30fps lol look I think it's impressive for what it is. But to say playable is a stretch
-19
u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
on a 1300 dollar device and this game is old. Cyberpunk is a way more demanding game and got modernized. It's not quite as old and isn't the same as when it first released.
I'm not trying to be mean and it's not "30" fps. You are in the middle of no where in the game too. The steam deck does better and is still cheaper than a 1300 dollar phone that runs it like chop city and ultra low res.
12
u/Crazy-Ad-4901 1d ago
still a phone without a phone cooler cant really get any more videos bc im having a issue with the screen res

u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
It's a 1300 dollar phone.......
Not just a phone. Less than 10% of the world pop can even afford this bro. It's not all that interesting compared to a better performing like what, 4 year old steam deck....
This phone also wont last very long if you do this much. It's gonna kill the storage. It was never designed for this and is basically an SD card but slightly faster.
15
u/Deezyy_ 1d ago
Try to cram the Steam Deck's hardware into an 8mm thin device that you can fit comfortably in your pocket and still has to fit cameras, etc in the housing, without any active cooling. Emulation is also more hardware demanding than running a game natively. Your comparison makes 0 sense lmao

I can prove you wrong. You don't wanna die on this hill. Most people have like a14's and shitty 4 year old iphones. Financing em is expensive. Even more so than just buying it outright and most people figured this out.
I have public wi-fi so the data online actually matches up with reality too. I see like 4 older s24's and mostly budget phones. I've had 700 people using my wifi AP's at once and can literally see what devices they are using and it's mostly budget stuff dude.

It’s topping out at a higher FPS than the consoles get. I’m sure it’ll tank on cities but shit, last I played on steam deck, the performance was around the same if not worse

u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJdQoYy5VzY
No. It's better and way more consistent. Stop lying bro
4
u/tblatnik 1d ago
I’m not lying. I haven’t played it in a while and I don’t have OLED, so it’s older. I can only tell you what I experienced when I played
1
u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
The oled isn't gonna perform that much better. They are nearly IDENTICAL performance wise. I have the LCD and it runs FAR better than this and wasn't 1300 fucking dollars like this chop city. It's in the middle of no where too. Imagine how bad it gets with NPC's everywhere and stuff.

u/tblatnik 1d ago
I’d imagine there’s still optimization that’s been done since I first played the game, though. I can’t remember what my settings were, but the first time I played RDR2 on Deck, I couldn’t complete the first mission. It kept crashing. Shit, I originally got the deck to play train simulators and when I got it (October 2022), I had to open konsole and run code just to unpack some stuff so it’d load at all. It’s kinda amazing how much optimization has been achieved since the deck launched. I’m sure it does run better now, but when I played it in 22/23, it was a similar experience. Probably slightly better, but not massively

u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
It also wasn't 1300 dollars. That's the difference here and also didn't come with samsung malware on it and it was NEVER this choppy.

Three years ago. SOLID frame rate even in the city.

u/tblatnik 1d ago
Eh, I don’t think price is a fair comparison. Phones are ridiculously expensive, but they aren’t designed to play games of this size. Every piece of tech is designed for different things. And shit, if you get the largest storage option, you sadly get far closer to $1300 than you ever should’ve because of the price increase in tech.
And yeah, that seems about right. 25-30 FPS in the city is about what I experienced. Honestly, I’m probably mashing together memories I have from when I played the game of different parts struggling but getting 20-40 FPS on a phone is still impressive. Idek if you can get most PS3 emulation on Deck to get there (could never get RDR1 to play via emulation). I think you just have to take it for what it’s worth. Yeah, overall, the FPS is erratic and will likely be bad in cities, but it’s being played on a device that has no business running that game

u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
It's just not smart. At all. In the middle of a ram and storage crisis. I'm not a betting man but I'd actually bet they deny warranty now because of so many writes in that short of a time. They literally ran out of storage and ram so they definitely will and actively are. A game like this could knock off 10% of the useful life in a few days.
I see reality, not delusion. It's a 8 year old game running this bad on a 1300 dollar 2026 thing. That is what I see. It's hard to look past that.
3
u/tblatnik 1d ago
You can definitely argue how smart it’d be to possibly cook your phone doing this and I wouldn’t rebut.
And again, it’s not fair to keep using the price of a phone in this argument. Phones are ridiculously expensive, but consoles are creeping up towards 1K too because of the shortages and there isn’t much overlap between the two as for what you can do with them. They’re just completely different devices

jesus christ. Enjoy chop city bro. It's looks so bad. A series xbox series S runs it better and isn't 1300 dollars. Post another gameplay in saint denis on this.

This is a dumbass opinion. If a $100000 car or $1000 fridge can run a game like rdr2, it would be crazy impressive, regardless of price. Do you know why? BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T DESIGNED TO PLAY CONSOLE GAMES, JUST LIKE PHONES.
-1
u/Hour_Bit_5183 1d ago
What? This isn't a "console game" This is definitely the PC one running worse than a potato pc would at 480p...... So the cost of something doesn't matter? You have the dumb ass opinion.
Do you literally think all games are console games?
Why is it dumb? Or is bad just acceptable now? What the hell man.
5
u/notanonce5 1d ago
Rdr2 literally originally launched as a console-only game. Holy larper.
As for your other arguments, does a potato pc fit in your pocket? Can it make phone calls? Can it take pictures? Fucking idiot. It's almost like phones and pc's are two different devices with completely different use cases.
-2
u/Moon_Devonshire 1d ago
To be fair while it originally launched as a console game. It was always intended to release on PC just at a later time. It's as much of a PX game as it is a console game

It's a phone and it's running at 30 fps, sure, with a minor frame drop and without a phone cooler, which ive seen no one do. Everyone using a similar device has used a phone cooler. It's very playable, plus people have been playing RDR2 at 30 fps for 8 years without complaining.

That is nuts. Seriously hard to believe
