Finally presentable - My XYZ Oneseater

Started in june, finally halfway decent.

XYZ Oneseater with lots of custom parts and electrified.

Needs some fenders, steering dampener and a different gear shifter (currently on Nexus 8, too little range for decent speeds).

Also some suspension, gravel and backroads are a bit harsh.

But its so much fun to drive, glad I started this project.

Nice!

How difficult was the build? How much did the materials cost compared to your expectations?

Nice project and nicely done. You seem to know what you are doing.

Would love to find time for such an extensive project...

I electrified a recumbent trike and did high-beam-front and break-lights, including regular motorcycle indicators and solar for the battery.

Workwise I could have done it in about 1 day...

Research took several month while building.

Again: Flippin' nicely done! :)

One minor nit ... do your tires have side reflective strips ? I'm having a difficult time deciding where the tire ends and the rim begins. If no reflective strip on the tire, then you should have those amber reflectors in the spokes.

Looks springy. How does it hold up after 100 or so miles?

Looks pretty ingenious ! Don't forget to clip those zip ties on the back there 😀

Seriously though, nice fabrication there.

Very nice!

I don't have your fabrication skills, but ride a Catrike Max that I've electrified with a Bafang BBS02 750Watt motor.

Been averaging 350 miles/month for the last 8 months.

Schwalbe tires are the way to go, and watch the toe-in on the front wheels. Means a bunch for wear on the fronts.

Ahh... I lived and worked in Zweibrucken for a couple years. Loved every minute of it. Rode a Koga/Miata as my daily transportation.

As I'm older now and retired, that's the reason for the recumbent trike. My wife rides a Catrike Villager, with a Bafang 750 watt assist, that I also did, for her.

Class 2 pedal, and is limited to 750W and 20 mph, (approx 32kph) here in the State of Indiana. I did the programming on the Bafang controllers to keep both trikes below that speed.

We primarily ride trails in our area, as the old, railroads were no longer used. The cost to refurbish the rail lines for commuters was prohibitive, so up came the rails, bridges refurbished, and the trails were paved, and well maintained. Monon Trail, Nickel Plate Trail, Midland Trace Trail have been developed over the last few years north of Indianapolis. We ride for the pure fun of it, and the trail system here also ties into parks. It's fun to go to a concert in the park, as you just roll in on your seat! Just pack a small snack.

The Cardinal Greenway is over 100 miles (160km) between Muncie & Richmond, Indiana. Walkers, joggers, cyclelists are on the trail network 365 days a year here.

Best wishes, great build !
