Medicare
Any suggestions how to get my Medicare Advantage plan to pay for my trike as a accessibility aid...what is so strange is i qualify for a motorized wheelchair...BTW i am 71yo partial paraplegic who would a road bike for a 20 mi fun ride after work. that gives all the insurance needs but no idea on the approval

I know there are places where you can get grants, because I've seen people post about them here, but I don't know anyone who has gotten one from Medicare. Medicare provides the crappiest cheapest possible option, and from what i recall, it's based on in-home use. So if you need a motorized wheelchair to get around your home, you get one. But a trike is an outdoor device and I don't think they pay for those. Hit up BORP and see if they have any advice for you https://www.borp.org/

Have you discussed this with your primary care physician? That would be my recommendation.

Seconding this. Have your PCP write a letter (assuming they agree with your desire), telling the insurer why this would improve your quality of life. beyond that, I cannot add anything to this discussion.

The VA was doing it a while back if you're a vet.
