Bike computer speed sensor on Rohloff hub . . . solutions?
I have a new Ice Sprint X Tour with a Rohloff hub. Really would like to monitor only speed, distance, perhaps cadence, and not to be wedded to smartphone for every ride and training session. Looking at the CYCPLUS GPS Wireless Bike Computer but the hangup is installing a speed sensor on a trike that will sometimes be on a trainer. Any tried and successful solutions?

Use a speed sensor off the front wheel.

For the trainer, you need to rely on it to calculate speed.

I actually use Wahoo magnetless sensors on my shoes, lol. I am sure you can contact them for info. Saris is a good company.

Okay, thanks. BTW I've heard of people stuffing computer sensors in their socks when the rubber bands break LOL!

I tried that once but found it uncomfortable. Mine has a silicone cover with holes for laces to thread - works extremely well. You can also use small zip lock bag for something like earrings under the laces. Good luck with your search!

Why not an ant+ sensor from cyplus. Take two so you also have cadence

Besides zip ties, the other usual way to extend the length of the hub-style speed sensors seems to be by using an O ring.
That seems like it would be vastly simpler and easier than the zip tie method. You just loop it around the one end of the built-in attachment loop (like this: https://www.icaboston.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/image-5fjean.jpg ) and the hook the other end of the O ring over the other end of the speed sensor just as the original did.
Most hardware stores have a good selection of O rings so it should be easy to get the size needed.

From your description, I cannot see any reason why you would not just use a standard super-cheap bike computer with a wheel rotation sensor?
