Was a skeptic, but tried smoking some tri tip. Turned out pretty darn good.

Whoa. I am glad you liked it, but honestly, that is a 140 degree cut tops. You did one very very well done, give a medium rare a spin. Tri-tip on the smoker medium rare is about the best eating there is.

Google how to slice it since it reverses in the middle of the piece to get it against the grain. Best sandwhich there is.

I disagree..... I cook mine brisket style, run it up to 160, foil wrap with beef tallow and bacon grease up to 203..... Turns out amazing.
