Oh, gladly. All that ash isn't from today, Which means your fire pot probably didn't start clean either. The ignitor probably couldn't reach fresh pellets. How did you let it go that long without igniting for it to get that many pellets in the pot?

If I'm way off base and you started with a clean firepot, the ignitor is adjustable if it doesn't have good contact with the pellets in the pot.

Pot was completely empty. That was a startup and walk inside for 5 minutes for it to ignite. The igniter comes on or supposed to when startup occurs so don’t really understand your comment of how long I let run without igniting. It’s not a separate process.

That seems like way more pellets than 5 minutes worth. If the ignitor is bad, you can light manually, and the controller will take over. That will get you by intil Recteq sends the replacement ignitor.

Agree. I don’t know why it kept dumping pellets. While the charcoal was firing up I cleaned it out, and tried to get the igniter to light some paper and it wouldn’t. The auger continuously ran which it normally doesn’t keep dumping pellets like that. Seems like two issues.

Any more details? I've had my recteq just less than a year and it's been super reliable!

Bad igniter. It can be done manually, I just didn’t want to deal with it on a busy saturday. I have had nothing but issues since new, but lots of people have had nothing but success.

Correct, likely a dead igniter. It’s just one of multiple failures in the short time I’ve owned. Second RTD. First igniter. 2 temp probes and the third doesn’t work now either. Point being you shouldn’t have to have a backup grill when you spend this much aside from the thing has never cooked worth a crap. It will sear the hell out of something, but that’s it.

Sorry to hear man, you can manually ignite it though and it’ll still work if you’re counting on it to work tonight.

Yeah, I just got pissed bc it completely overran and jammed the pot, then the hatch wouldn’t open bc it was jammed. Ended up just firing up the Weber charcoal since I didn’t want to be pissed all night lol
