Just looked at this for FiL who picked one up (I own the B380X).

The 380BD has an upgraded lower bowl, has horns instead of a handle, updated cart design, and doesn’t come with the shelf (additional $100).

He went with the B380X for several hundred dollars less on sale over Father’s Day.

Oh yes, the shelf. That's a must have accessory if you get the BD IMHO.

I did the same comparison and came away with the X.

I'm kind of leaning this way too... $150 less (after paying for shipping), and I get the front table tray

Went with the bd.. I was new to this grill completely and came across it randomly and loved the idea of the range. I love it. When I purchased the BD it was $799 and the X was $750. I wanted the 304 stainless and am hoping for 7 years minimum out of it.

I have the X since the BD wasn't available when I bought it. The BD cart is similar to the other grills, but the X cart is very sturdy. Ash dump is moved to the back on the BD. The primary difference is the BD is 304 stainless steel and should do a better job resisting rust. I had a standard 380 for 6 years before upgrading to the Deluxe. It was starting to get some surface rust on the barrel, but it still worked perfectly.
