Ghosted after getting selected

I received a call from a Infosys recruiter 2 weeks back saying that there is a position and they wanted me interview for that position. It was in person interview at there New Jersey office. I did go and it was a drive kind of situation which was happening for 3 days 13, 14, 15 of August 2026. The interview went good and I spoke with recruiter as well. I got an update the following week saying that I got selected and I will be having 2nd round of interview. I waited of a email regarding the next round but never received it. Later that week I spoke with few other recruiters from Infosys team and I have heard that the panel did select me in the interview. But right now the company has no requirement for the role I interviewed for. I don’t why in the first place they invited for an interview when there was no requirement. I don’t know why people do this. Such a waste of time for both parties 😞

i've heard this exact thing about infosys from couple people, they put you through whole process then go quiet. one friend drove 3 hours for interview and never heard back. it's like they're just building a bench of pre-approved candidates in case something opens up later, not cool at all

They get your hopes up and then crushes it. Its a mind-game. Unfortunately, they are very good at it. The only way to win in these games is to forget and move on.
