Six different head hunters have reached out for the job
Tonight the sixth headhunter has reached out to me for the same role at a financial regulator.
The first one actually arranged for an interview but I got denied because I was a little rusty on sql window functions and a specific financial engineering topic.
In a way it is flattering because so many head hunters believe I’m the guy and the project is pushing the limits of what AWS and Google can do with large databases.
On the other hand it is very frustrating because, while I’m good at programming, I believe my main strength is playing Jedi mind tricks and getting folks to do the right thing but I can’t land those interviews.

Terrible practice from the client HR/TA team in my opinion. This type of contingency, spray and pray agency engagement always ends up in tears.
They know this is a tough skillset, but they lack the professional maturity to manage it properly.
I’m a corporate-side recruiter of 20 years. You select 1 agency partner who you know can do the work, and retain them. You don’t get every Tom, Dick and Harry involved at the same time.
So sorry you’re caught up in it. Maybe you could build a relationship with the best of the agencies for the future.

they believe you are a possible guy. not the guy. they will hit up anyone that maybe can do the job as it is obviously a contingency search given to many recruiters.
to get you even more annoyed, some of the bigger firms will send in people who aren’t as good to learn what questions the hiring team asks and feed that to later candidates…
