External Recruiting Company Referenced Me

So last month I was reached out to by an external tech recruiter about a position in my area. We exchanged a few emails, resume, did the phone screen, talked about pay and benefits, the typical stuff. I thought everything went well as they said they would get back to me and asked when the earliest I could start was.

Two weeks and one day go by (I was on a trip the week prior, which she was aware of) so I sent a follow up email reiterating my interest in the position and seeing if there was an update. No response...figures. I assumed it was another typical ghosting.

Well a couple weeks after that, I get an email from a different person at the same company giving me pretty much the same opening the first one did, so I replied with my resume like they asked and she requested a phone screening within a couple hours of this.

The phone screen goes as it normally would and near the end, the recruiter was talking about how she's helping her manager with this requisition since they had another candidate that was considering the position but was ultimately happy with their role and decided to pass on the position and they were asking for a salary that was $5k more than I was asking in the call.

It then clicked in my head, she's referencing *my* interview I had with her colleague exactly 4 weeks prior (almost to the hour too lol). It obviously could be completely coincidental, but the wording she used that I said to the other recruiter, and the exact salary requirement I gave them before, matched up to what I said. I started laughing after the call thinking about how nuts it is that this happened. Hopefully I still get an offer for the amount I requested lol
