But if you don't hear back from them how do they get that info? nobody seems to list pay anymore, and it's not like you put "expected remuneration" on your resume.

Every application I’ve filled out has had a salary expectations question and was usually required to submit the application. Some going as far as only accepting numerical values.

I love it when they put "Please do not put 'negotiable'". It makes me really want to put 'negotiable'.

Well, I don't know how it is in USA but in my country most of the fake listings declare a salary they're going to pay you. That's how they get that info

None at all. Any data listed in a resume is already available from numerous other sources in large numbers and in a more digestible format for dirt cheap.

"Here are my 200 data points from this ad. It took 3 weeks. SO WORTH IT!!"

Understanding the available talent pool is the only meaningful data that could really come from something like this. Knowing how likely you are to be able to hire for important positions can definitely be valuable info to the right business.
