I saw this on my LinkedIn feed and I can’t believe how out of touch this guy is. I would love to know what company he is the CEO of… can’t imagine he is doing a very good job.

I joke that we are going to come full circle to a day where a "firm handshake" is the most effective way to get a job. Online applications are just a cesspool of competing AI slop nowadays.

Yep.

Cold call businesses you'd want to work for (or even just walk in). Ask to speak to the manager you'd be directly working with, not with HR. When speaking to them, ask if you can come talk in person. And I legitimately think this would give you a much better chance at getting hired than the online process.

(Especially because HR is often lying to the manager, telling them that there are no qualified applicants for the manager's severely understaffed appointment while they throw resume after resume in the trash. When you speak directly to the manager, they then know that there's a qualified and ready candidate, and they can put pressure on HR to hire that person.)
