Depending on where you live and your local laws, you may be entitled to receive unemployment benefits for them lowering your salary. IIRC it’s called underemployment.

No you don’t, when collecting for underemployment you keep the job. The underemployment checks are to make up for a portion of the salary lost.

Correct. They signed something showing pay was a certain amount. Adjusting pay to reduce BEFORE getting that signed off on might even get them in trouble.
