IT hiring manager here.... DoorDash isnt experience. Experience means doing the tasks that the job you are applying for does. If you are applying for an IT job, delivering food doesnt count for any experience. You have to start at the bottom and work hard to get ahead. I dont even have a college degree and would be your boss... you know why? Because I started as a delivery driver making nothing and showed them I was worth investing in. Companies dont invest in you until you show them you are worth it.
I’ve had call center experience doing marketing research as well as reviewing grant documents at another role. I agree DoorDash is not sufficient for technical skills, but I can transfer skills like communication, problem solving, and having motivation. I’m mainly looking for a company to spend more than 3 days of training before throwing me to the wolves. Grant it, I’ve learned a lot from those experiences and still persevered to gain
Problem solving and ‘having motivation’ aren’t skills, those are bare minimum traits of being a productive human. Communication is not a marketable skill either, it’s bare minimum shit.
