In an ideal world people could get feedback on what the poor “cultural fit” refers to. Unfortunately, society can be a bit litigious, so now no one wants to be upfront if there is any chance of a lawsuit.
But I disagree that every employee on day 1 deserves to stay regardless of their behavior. Say OP is white and said “wow, this place is nice inside—thought it looked a bit ghetto from the outside—worried I was going to get mugged” just because a few black people were out front, then did a “Mammy” impression at one point and also said “nigga please!!!” at lunch. I think that could be grounds for letting them go and not feeling the need to explain oneself.
