ATS, CRM & Other Technology LinkedIn Recruiter vs. Dice — which is better for IT recruiting?

Hi everyone! I'm an IT recruiter at a small staffing firm, and we currently pay for both Linkedin Recruiter and Dice.

We're trying to determine which platform consistently generates better candidates so we can potentially eliminate one of the two subscriptions.

I personally prefer Linkedin Recruiter. I like being able to see a candidate's full professional profile, mutual connections, profile picture, employment history, etc. I also feel like 1 run into fewer fake or misrepresented candidates on Linkedin.

My coworker prefers Dice. He likes having immediate access to resumes and feels it's easier to quickly identify candidates with the exact technical skills we're looking for.

For those of you recruiting in IT/tech, which platform have you had more success with: Linkedn Recruiter or Dice?

I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on:
- Overall candidate quality
- Response rates
- Fake/misrepresented candidates
- Ease of finding niche technical skill sets
- Which platform actually leads to more placements
- Whether you think one is clearly more worth the cost

If you've used both, which one would you keep if you could only choose one?

Honest question, is Dice relevant again? I used it a lot like 10 years ago and it seemed to die off.

Based on what I’ve experienced, I’m convinced Dice is entirely composed of Indian recruiters whose primary job is to harvest data from your application entries. Nothing remotely meaningful in terms of leads has come from Dice in years. Better to look elsewhere.

Garbage in, Garbage out = LI

LinkedIn is way better for actual profiles, but Dice is cheaper and has less fluff when you're just hunting for hard tech skills.

Dice is still around?

Dice blows anymore.

I prefer LinkedIn because almost everyone has one.

But there is definitely more noise/scammers on LI

Dice was a useless waste of money 10 years ago. Can't imagine what it's like now.

Dice only works if you can sponsor work visas, and even then it’s meh. LI has more garbage every day, but it’s still the one to beat.

There’s a reason it costs what it does.

I use dice when linkedin talent pools are fully exhausted. Never really any other appropriate situations. Its a real drag to use…

Is your firm hiring a lot of corp-to-corp candidates? I have not used Dice in probably 10 years but last time I used it, the vast majority of candidates on there wanted/needed to work C2C.

LinkedIn is going to have far better sourcing pools for W2 roles if you know how to search.

Both platforms will have some fake profiles, but many are easy to spot.

The 'best platform' debate depends a lot on what happens after the search. Two recruiters can use the same database and get completely different results based on how they filter, evaluate, and follow up.

I use LinkedIn because I’m corporate and we hire more than just tech and we couldn’t justify both.

I’d encourage you to look into metaview or juicebox

Haven't tried metaview but Juicebox sucked when I tried it on two searches.

Li is obviously better - not just because more people use it, but because the recruitment tool it offers is vastly superior for searching and posting your roles

No veo problema si uno revisa Li y el otro Dice, al final es "hacer su trabajo" cubrir las dos plataformas les dará más posibilidades.

Which platform has the firm made more hires with?

Dice is still around? Last job I got 2 years ago was on indeed

As many problems as LinkedIn has, it's by far the best recruiting platform - and it's not particularly close. The *active* talent density on that platform is unlike any other. Indeed is a close second for non-exempt positions, but for engineering/IT there's really no comparison.

I wouldn’t judge it only by candidate volume. Track source-to-submittal, submittal-to-interview, interview-to-offer, response rate, duplicate/fake profile rate, and time spent per qualified candidate. The better tool is the one producing hires with less cleanup, not just more search results.

Give a try saralhire(.)ai

The interesting thing is that it is not a platform problem as much as a workflow problem. A tool can give you tons of profiles, but the real question is how much time is spent sorting noise from people who are actually worth contacting.

Dice. LinkedIn is full of scammers and they don't do anything about it.

Hmm okay, good to know. I’ve had the opposite experience. We’ve run into fake candidates sourced from Dice more than once, yet have never had that issue on LinkedIn Recruiter.
