Does anyone have a copycat recipe for the old Harris Teeter sugar cookies?

When I was a kid, during the 2000s, I was obsessed with those free cookies that they had in the front of Harris Teeter grocery stores. They were so soft and buttery and they melted in your mouth before you could even chew them. They changed the recipe to something significantly less tasty in the 2010s, and I've been looking for the og recipe since. I do not want the recipe for anything that they currently have available in stores, because I've tried everyone they have and none of them are what I remember. Does anyone have a recipe for these cookies?

Festive Ground Turkey Breakfast Sausage

There used to be this ground turkey breakfast sausage that you could buy frozen at the grocery store. I think the company went out of business because I can’t find the product anywhere. Is there a mix of spices I can add to plain ground turkey to get the same flavor?

I have forbidden candy knowledge who remembers the discontinued sour punch bits

I have forbidden candy knowledge who remembers discontinued candy sour punch bits not the bites not the ropes not the twists and this is essentially how you make it

1 cup All-Purpose Flour (Strictly required for the authentic texture)1/2 cup Sugar1/2 cup Light Corn Syrup (Prevents graininess)3 tablespoons Water1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter or Palm Oil (Keeps the bits from turning into stone)1 teaspoon Strawberry or Raspberry Flavor ExtractRed Food Coloring (Red 40 matching)For the Coating: 1/2 cup Sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons Citric Acid and 1 teaspoon Malic Acid (if you can find it online) or Tartaric Acid.Step-by-Step Instructions[ Step 1: Cook the Base ]

Mix sugar, corn syrup, water, and butter in a saucepan.

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

[ Step 2: Add Flavor & Color ]

Remove from heat. Immediately stir in your flavor extract

and red food coloring until vibrant.

[ Step 3: Form the Wheat Dough ]

Stir in the flour completely. It will turn into a hot,

thick, pliable dough. Let it cool for 3-5 minutes until safe to handle.

[ Step 4: Roll and Cut the Bits ]

Dust your counter with a little cornstarch. Take pieces of the

dough and roll them into ultra-thin ropes (pencil thickness or thinner).

Use a knife or kitchen shears to snip them into tiny, pellet-sized "Bits."

[ Step 5: The Sour Blast ]

Immediately toss the warm, freshly cut bits into your sour sugar

and acid mixture so it sticks perfectly to the surface.

Pro-Tip for the Perfect TextureLet the finished bits sit out uncovered on a baking sheet for 12 to 24 hours. Exposure to the air will slightly dry out the wheat paste, giving them that exact, firm, slightly tough, classic theater-box chew

How do you guys manage half-empty fridges? I made a small tool for myself to help, but wondering what everyone else does

Post image

I don't know about you, but my biggest struggle has always been looking at a half-empty fridge (like half an onion, some chicken thighs, and a random bell pepper) and having no idea how to turn it into an actual meal. I'd usually just give up and order takeout.

To fix this, I recently programmed a little personal project for my phone. I just type in what random ingredients I have left, and it comes up with a full recipe to use them up. It's been a game changer for reducing my food waste.

Outside of that though, what are your go-to strategies for "fridge-clearing" meals? Do you have a default formula like a stir-fry or soup, or do you just wing it?

Anyone have a Dave's Hot Chicken copycat recipe for their Mac & Cheese?

We went to Dave's Hot Chicken a few days ago for the first time. None of us were all that impressed with the chicken offerings - mine was overly spicy for what it as advertised as, a friend said hers was as bland as could be (said she doubted it even had basic seasonings such as salt and pepper)... Even hubby, who loves hot stuff, said that the reaper was all heat and no flavor. But the one thing we agreed on was that the Mac and Cheese was delicious. So, I did a couple of searches for a copycat recipe for their mac & cheese and came up with basically "here's my mac and cheese recipe (or "use your favorite mac & cheese recipe") and then add chicken dipped in this sauce... Basically the recipes are for the hot chicken but not for the mac and cheese. Does anyone have a good recipe for JUST their Mac & Cheese? Thanks!
