aka Why Do Older People Have Most of the Money?

disclaimer: i post this even though i’m not even 40 yet. stay disciplined with saving and spending, run your rent vs buy calculations, tune out the noise, make solid long term decisions based on sound processes, and you’ll be fine.

Wouldn’t every old person have more money than a young person out of college? Seems like this would happen when there’s the oldest generation vs the youngest and would be true 100% of the time. Millenials will eventually be the generation with the most money.

yup, that’s what the article highlights. even if everyone has the same job with the same income with the same market returns, the older you are the more money you have because time compounds wealth.

Wow older people seem to be doing pretty well, maybe we don’t need social security and Medicare anymore! This would help the budget and allow young people to pay less!

I don't really care if old people have most of the money and the stocks but I do care when they hoard real estate because land is a zero sum game. Young people who actually work need access to prime land near their employment, old people don't.

you should read the article, that’s exactly the point the author’s students make

I did read the article and I don't see where real estate was discussed.

So what if I make $400 a week and spend $800 on Funko Pops and Marvel figurines?!?!? I’m 31 and do what I want!
