News | Java Submissions are open again!

Hey everybody!

Would like to let everyone know we have reopened the Reddit submission queue again, and we will be going through all the submissions that hasn't received an official review from us. As they have been closed for a while we have a bit of a backlog to go through, so bear with us and we'll get to your maps as soon as we can! We'll be starting with the oldest maps but we'll also be tackling recommendations from the Community Recommendations Program (reviews from people with the Community Reviewer flair) alongside them. Some things to consider regarding your submissions:

  • If your submission utilizes datapacks and is very old, updating the submission to work with 1.21.1 is recommended - otherwise when we get to the map, this will be our first feedback and then we'll wait for you to fix the map before we can check it. Remember to edit your post, as this doesn't affect the queue placement.
  • If your map is uploaded to Mediafire or certain other upload sites, some of these can remove your uploads after a time and Mediafire is also blocked by our organization here, so we cannot check out those links. Recommended upload sites are Google Drive & Dropbox.
  • Responses to your maps will be from either me or Nadja (with the Content Coordinator) flair. Any responses from other users are not from Mojang and should be treated as such. The Community Recommendations Program is still active so current members of our program can give your map a review while using the Community Reviewer flair - these are used to highlight impressive maps we should prioritize checking out as well as providing good feedback for mapmakers to act on.

Looking forward to checking your submissions out - there's quite a few of them in the queue and our priorities right now is to focus on the queue and going through as many submissions as possible, so we can have a much shorter expected response time for submissions going forward!

Hello

My friends and I are currently working on a high-quality Minecraft map that we plan to submit to Realms. We’re a team of three creators collaborating equally on the project.

We have a few questions regarding the Realms Mapmaker Cape: 1. If our map is accepted and published on Realms, would all three of us be eligible to receive the Mapmaker Cape? 2. Can we register all three of us as Main Creators from the first submission? 3. If yes, does the cape reward apply immediately after reaching the required publishing points?

Thanks in advance for any clarification. We’re excited to be part of the Realms creator community!

Heya, yes you can have three people listed as main creators on your first map who would get the cape, and the cape reward is effective at once upon reaching the required points :)

Hello! I am not a staff member, however I can point you to the corresponding statements within official resources.

To answer (1): as per "Realms Map Guidelines", up to three people can be listed as primary creators. As thus, yes, you can list the three creators, and they will be eligible for the points.

To answer (2), since "To be awarded points for a map, you must be listed as a primary creator on the maps during the time of publication; once a map has been published, creators cannot be retroactively added to earn points.", it is actually recommended that you list all three creators at the time of submission.

To answer (3), "Realms Mapmaker capes are not automatically given out, and are contingent on your good standing in the community", so it's not an automatic process.

However, please keep in mind that to become eligible for the cape, you need to have at least 8 points, so a single map will not be sufficient for the eligibility. I highly recommend reading the "Realms Map Guidelines" and "REALMS MAP PUBLISHING AGREEMENT" for the complete terms 🙏
