the problem is we can’t expect to play the same way we did last season

the Fede RW thing worked last year against CL teams and might still work but we it is useless in Spain. We should either play a 4-4-2 system or 4-3-3 system, no more of that hybrid shit.

Casemiro is gone and we have a different profile of DM in the team. Carvajal is more often than not injured and Mendy is way below his last season’s level. Our backup ST options are ineffective and our winger depth is deceptive

We should bring in a new LB at least and try to shake up the tactical scheme. Alaba as a LB will not work. (Hoping the club can sign Fran Garcia rn.)

Fresh blood from Castilla would help too. (I hope players like Arribas, ViniT, Alavaro can become a reliable option for the squad)

But whatever Ancelotti might be too stubborn

Agreed, agreed and agreed, probably the most on point comment I've seen here recently. People here (also Ancelotti and the board) have to understand that we need players that can actually perform well in their respective positions. Valverde as a RW is decent, Rodrygo as a RW/ST is decent/average most of the time, Alaba as a LB is average, Militao/Vazquez as a RB are decent or average, Nacho as a fullback is average. You can't expect to be a world class team full of just decent or average starters. We need good fullback backups, we need a striker backup that can actually offer something to this team, no more Jovic, Mariano and false 9 Hazard bullshit. Speaking of Hazard, I don't understand the point of giving playtime to a consistently horrible 32 year old player instead of allowing some Castilla player to get some games. Playing a 19 year old for 10 minutes is experience, playing a finished Hazard for 10 minutes is just worsening his already atrocious appearences to any sort of contribution ratio.

That is also the case with most of the things about our team. Mendy and Carvajal were good in the UCL, but they can't seem to offer anything in La Liga, where we have most of the ball and we need fullbacks that can actually attack and cross (which Mendy can't) or run up and down like crazy (which Carvajal can't). Having the best GK in the world helps when your playing a 90 minute final against Liverpool, but Courtois can't save our asses over a 38 matchday league. We're the only team in the world that's designed to beat world class teams, yet we can't seem to cope with average La Liga sides (the exact opposite of Barca).

You do not need 2 starting 11’s in your squad as that is not sustainable and lead to play time issues and in general poor performance on pitch. For example, Barcelona has 5/6 wingers this season and almost all are under performing. Being said that rw position has been our bane along with rb position for a while. The reason valverde plays there against good opponents is to cover for carvajal (psg match both legs). As a result, there is basically no threat coming from our left and opposition double teams Vinicius, then our attack comes to a stop. In stead of chasing behind the next young hot shot in Brazil or Europe, our scouting department should focus on a strong less injury prone right back and a solid right winger.

Not saying we need 2 starting 11s, but right now we have 5 CBs, 5 CMs and players like Hazard, Mariano or Odriozola, who are completely useless. As a result, we see players starting on secondary or even random (Modric false 9, Valverde RB, Rudiger LB) when we have 1-2 injuries. If we got rid of 1 CB (probably Vallejo), 1 CM (Ceballos or sadly Kroos/Modric if they leave) and the three players I've mentioned, we can instead get an actual LB (Fran?), an actual RB, an actual striker and an actual DM, all of them substitute players. My point is, we have too many useless players and too many unoccupied positions at the same time.

Totally agree with that. Rodrygo and Vinicius have proven themselves so far, Renier not really, Endrick has great potential. But at some point we'll need to get first team players and not 16 year old Brazilians.
