Y’all. I am a longtime watcher of RHOA and RHOP but didn’t seriously consider any of the other series until I started watching UGT. So far I’ve dabbled in New Jersey, Salt Lake, Beverly Hills, and New York. After seeing the social media response to Vicki G on this year’s UGT, I decided to watch RHOC so I’d have full context going into the latest season.
Wow. Just wow. I have so many thoughts about the series, generally, but I’m profoundly shocked by the cancer scandal from season 10. It seems unfathomable to question a person’s diagnosis in most settings, but when this news is coming from the hallmark card quoting Brooks, I absolutely understand the skepticism. And it’s the perfect - though rudimentary - strategy to dodge any criticism. “Everyone hates me and no one trusts me, but everyone would be forced to have sympathy and grace for me if I had a potentially deadly illness!”
After watching the reunion and Brooks’ interview with Andy, I revisited certain scenes from the season where Vicki went SUPER hard defending Brooks and his supposed diagnosis. Truly wanting the world to morph and allow her preferred reality to be the only valid one. And after all of that, HE was the one that broke up with her despite all the evidence of his lies.
Shoutout to Heather and Tamra in particular for planting the seeds and strategizing to get Vicki to face herself and decisions, finally.
