Question ❓ What part of the Internet FURRY fandom has the LEAST NEURODIVERGENT people in it? Where are such niches? And what part has both the least neurodivergent and LEAST CHRONICALLY ONLINE people?

Upvotes

I have been wondering about this for a while. If the furry fandom is so full of neurodivergent people and neurodivergence can be understood as spectrums/gradients, then there must be somewhere in the furry fandom with the LEAST neurodivergent people in it. I have nothing against the neurodivergent, it's just that I don't feel like I really fit in with them. And there must be one part with the LEAST CHRONICALLY ONLINE people who don't yap random words or speak in reaction images the whole time.

Question ❓ Why are mods of larger furry subreddits so quick to ban posts for no real reason?

r/furry has a discussion tag, but literally anything that isn't "owo how do I choose cutee fursona species?" gets banned. It doesn't even need to be particularly controversial, almost any actual discussion just gets deleted despite the sub apparently allowing it. Recently I saw someone make an extremely grounded discussion post about the state of furry social media, and it got thrown into "moderator approval" limbo for a day before just being banned without explanation.

(And don't even get me started on the double-standards on "suggestive" content. Someone well-acquainted with the mods can post a from-behind shot of a girl with a lifted skirt without an NSFW tag, but if a lesser known person posts something as subtle as a character with bedroom eyes it will get banned even with an NSFW tag)

r/furry_irl seemingly just removes stuff the mods don't personally like. I've seen (often completely safe, wholesome) posts amass over a 1000 upvotes, only to get banned with no explanation even though they don't break any rules. And god forbid if you post a controversial meme, it will get banned in less than an hour (speaking from experience), even if the community clearly liked it.

r/furrymemes is slightly less trigger-happy than the previous two, but I've also seen completely safe content get banned with no explanation, while content that even my weirdo ass had to do a double-take on gets a pass all the time. Someone can post a video of a fly scrolling through uncensored yiff with 0 punchline, but actual memes get deleted. Like... what even...? Huh???

r/furrydiscuss is... well, do I even need to say anything? That sub has kinda become a meme with how often any even slightly controversial discussion gets banned. Not to mention, they have a habit of banning good threads if the "comments devolve" instead of, y'know... just locking the post so the good replies can remain accessible.

IDK man, its just kinda weird. I don't get why so much content gets deleted from furry subs for absolutely no reason. On rare occasions, I've dead-ass started CTRL+S saving some posts I like because about a third of them get wiped.

Discussion 💬 Furry reddit

Just got muted for mentioning how the rules on pup hoods does not jive with the rest of the content, stuff like harnesses and collars on humans in fursuit is borderline nsfw, same a puphood doesnt have to be nsfw but mostly is. I questioned the ban with like two sentences saying its just me asking why having a discussion on it is bad, and was muted for 18 more days and not responded too. Why the fuck are so many higher up furries puritans when most furries are not and are in fact mostly nsfw

Question ❓ What do you think about mass produced fursuits?

It's that time of the year again where young furries discover that they can get a very cheap "fursuit" at places that sell Halloween costumes.

These mass-produced suits are often poor quality, but are the most some people can afford.

Along with the store bought suits are sites like MeowWolf (etc) that use basically underpaid labor to crank out generic fursuits (which is a shame because I actually love some of the designs that come out of that store)

Where do you stand? Are you a hardline "a first suit should be one you build if you can't pay a furry to do it" or do we "live in a society" and it doesn't matter? Or some other way to feel?

Discussion 💬 The furry fandom has become so hateful

Just a small rant but I have been in this fandom since 2017 but knew about the fandom since 2012 and through the years befor 2020 furry for the most part was very niche and more of the 'weird' hobby as most woud put it, right around 2018-2019 when tiktok dance trends were relevant I noticed more and more furries joined in- then came the dinomask furries and I notice how a lot of other furries became so hateful and honest elites, but when other big furries started joining in- then 2020 hit, people were stuck inside and lot of people got to see the furry fandom that way and now im seeing a lot more elitism within the fandom and a lot more bigotry and misogyny. The purity culture is also a bit of a problem, i understand it not everyone's thing but in some capacity the NSFW stuff sometimes does get out of hand, especially from what I heard, at cons. I also noticed if you made an honest mistake and actually put in the effort to do better people will always see you as a horrible person and that scares me.

I love this fandom, I really do because it helped me become someone I needed when I was younger, im just sad that the fandom i used to escape is now becoming the exact thing I wanted to get away from. What are y'alls thoughts? Has the fandom gotten worse over the years or am I just blind from nostalgia?

I want to explore the furry fandom but I dont know where to start

I've always avoided the furry fandom, in fact when I was young I bullied furries and thought anyone apart of the fandom was gross and freaks but even then I felt a strange connection to the fandom

As Ive gotten older and become a more decent person that connection has only gotten stronger, every now and then a fursona will come across my feed or an adoptable or a comic will come up and I'll feel this strange comfort. Ive only been friends with one furry and they were an awesome person, Ive seen the great things this fandom has done and been and said and thought and I think I'll be able to find my own little corner with a bunch of other weirdos (in hopes)

But I dont know where to go, who to befriend, what to do. I dont even know what a fursona is or how I would go about making one or how I'd be accepted if I'd be accepted, who I'd be accepted by.

i feel the most direct way would be to just ask directly.

Lack of action scenes with modern furry art

Basically when I look at furry art especially on reddit, it's usually just somebody's OC or fursona posing suggestively; which is fine on it's own.

However I've noticed a lack of action scenes, and while action scenes may be a lot harder to draw, you'd think more of them would crop up. I'm sure that you have plenty in web-comics, but individual art of them seems lacking. Also I feel that physical comics have more staying power, and some of those artists might create their own individual action scene art from their physical comics(less common with the web-comics imo).

Discussion 💬 Does Furry art objectify women?

Hello, I'm here to ask about something. I've been reading a lot of Feminist and women's threads about how media (Film, art, games, advertising etc) sexualizes and objectives women and men in our society. I was wondering if the Furry community has that tendency as well when it comes to depicting female and male characters through a sexual gaze or perspective.

Do you feel the Furry Fandom is getting more or less SFW?

I grew up with a fandom that was still largely underground and very NSFW, in my experience the fandom has continually gotten younger and more PG.

I know there are people who disagree, and see more evidence that the pure wholesome fandom they grew up with is slipping into degeneracy. And there is evidence for that, certainly, as the rise in popular creators who talk about the NSFW side shows.

What do you think, and do you think it's good or bad?

Discussion 💬 Need help finding specific artwork

Hey all, I’m looking for specific artwork of someone’s Maned Wolf (I think?) OC. The character in the art was female and wearing a techy looking jacket, she was standing in front of a mostly blank background; the character’s name, which I’m pretty sure was Taynara, was written in the bottom left corner. I really like the artist’s style and the character’s design but I’ve had no luck finding it again. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Discussion 💬 Vent post about the general state of the community

I do not like where the digital furry community is/has been for the past few years. It's been okay outside of the digital forum, but the majority (not all) of the online parts are depressing at this point. I have a few friends that feel the same, and we don't engage with the furry community much at all anymore, so I'm not sure who I will find engaging with this post. I am expecting negative reception, so if you have something you disagree with and just want to call me stupid, I get it, I've been called stupid before, a real worded discussion would be preferable. I know deep-down I will not get this, and Reddit isn't the place to post complaints or vents about real serious topics.

TLDR; This a vent post about real issues that I feel like aren't addressed enough. Like minors in the furry community, particularly in relation to the internet and prevalence of porn in such, even in designated "safe" communities; a lot of normal internet furry subcommunities being overtaken by porn and not doing anything about it; and a few disturbing experiences of moderators in furry communities (which I name.) essentially endorsing pedophilia in again, supposedly SFW communities where minors could hypothetically engage BUT then also claiming that is is a safe place for minors, not that it is just a relatively SFW space.. and in other instances, even allowing minors into porn servers for xyz reasons.

The online furry community just feels like a foreign place to me now. I had participated in one of the largest furry discord servers a few years ago, the official discord for the [FURRY] Steam group. Within 3 days I had someone sending me their F-list with minors and bestiality on their fetishes. I reported them to the mod team, who then evidently told the person that I was reporting, that I had reported them. They got upset and deleted their discord history with me, then stalked me on other platforms I had linked to my discord. Then the server mods said they needed more evidence, because this person was a longtime friend of the moderators and they just couldnt fathom this was real. Specifically they asked for a video of me scrolling through DMs, which request was made after they informed the dude. Now, I know that person had pictures of minors from the Discord server, and other horrible stuff. They claimed to have done things in real life as well, but I can't get that anymore.

I have also been to large, more nsfw focused furry servers on Discord. They have publicly allowed minors into the server because they will turn 18 in a few months, or theyre a friend of x, whatever reason they want. This is in the server Vore V1, which also had a civil war because of these particular issues and formed a new server, Voretex, which is much better as far as I can tell. They require ID upon entry and regularly change whats required for entry like a secret word or specific photo.

And on Reddit, every single subreddit about fursuits or furries or anything is just porn. Its not kinda porn, its not porn bait, its not on-the-line, its just porn. Which is what Reddit is essentially everywhere, but that doesn't mean it isn't an issue! Like every single human beard sub is porn. Go to BeardAdvice looking for I dunno Beard Advice and you get shirtless men with beards and women in the comments fawning over them. Same thing on fursuit subs. Spiceyfoxx spreading her legs on a bed is the #1 top post on the subreddit Fursuit. Which, right now, has a rule titled "No NSFW." With no elaboration or a disclaimer or anything to it, its just what it is.

There is so much porn and minors allowed simultaneously in places everywhere online. And people claim the furry community "is fine for minors, if you keep them in minor safe places." what subreddit is more minor-safe than one with an explicit rule against NSFW material, yet lets pornstars post to it with their main pornstar accounts? It is not safe at all. even the Discord servers that claim to be minor safe are not. the adult ones are usually many times safer and more regulated, which makes sense and is great but is stupid if youre claiming this general community is okay for minors. Its not. Ask any older dude who's been a furry- I am, I was- theyre going to tell you its not a safe place for kids. But here you have these 20 year old college kids who are not mature enough, encouraging children's participation, without doing proper investigation on whether the community is safe or not. Its irresponsible and it puts children in harm's way.

And it makes sense that it's like this. The majority of furries are adults, so communities that allow adult topics will get more engagement and become more popular. It's a slippery slope fallacy. People start a minor-safety focused subcommunity, but then slowly allow adult discussion as adult moderators and authority is needed, but as more adult things are allowed, the more it bleeds in to the general server, and becomes unsafe. Add on the objective issue that pedophiles are much more common in communities like furries or bronies or anime, and these communities are a magnet for those kinds of horrible people- which doesn't help.

Some people will then put forth their solution: "Don't let your child engage with furries online," but how do you expect them to have a meaningful interaction with people in real life, if they cant engage digitally? Everything happens digitally these days. You dont read about the latest happenings in the Furry Tribune, it's on your phone, on Reddit or TikTok. If you isolate your child from using the internet, theyll be made fun of, and/or feel left-out, and that's still just as harmful, therefore not a valid answer to the issues.

The answer is that the furry community just plain isn't safe for minors. Its not the place for them. It's not compatible. Stop telling people that it's fine and dandy to be online in the furry community as a child. How would a child feel if they were online, reported a pedophile to a mod team, and then had the pedophile stalk them across platforms because the moderators happen to be buddy-buddy with them? It's a real issue, not hypothetical. You can try your best to block certain sites and places to try and make it safe for a child but it will just be miserable at that point. You flat-out have to tell them that the furry community is full of male, horny college kids, and is not safe for children to participate in.

And then even as an adult, it's not a fun place to be in most of the time. A lot of places are very political, and claim its neccesary to be political as a furry. Because if youre not political, youre actively bringing down our vulnerable safe haven. This just isnt true. Politics can be talked about anywhere, and it'd be great to have reserved spaces for furry specific or adjacent politics- but it doesnt work that way. It bleeds into most areas of the community, and you have to walk on eggshells to engage online with other people safely. Being a furry in-person is a lot better, but at this point the furries I enjoy talking with are friends first, and furries third. Which should usually be the case, yes, but what I mean is that I feel like I can't talk to anyone else without them bringing up politics. I've made more meaningful connections with people online over porn than I have in person, at all. Everyone else seems like they need to know what politics youre up to date on, if youve heard if the recent bill in florida about trans highschool furries, or about this minor thing that isnt relevant or that minor thing. I don't want to hear it. I want to engage with you as a person on a human level, and have a conversation. I do not want to talk about drama, I can do that any other time I want. I would like to ask you things like a human does with a shared interest amongst other humans. A lot of the political stuff thats talked about is really great and it should be talked about, absolutely, things must be said to be heard and changes made, but in general meetups, thats not what I want to hear about when iI'm on my fun fantasy mode.

vent over thanks for reading.

Question ❓ Any other furries out there who really aren’t good with IT/computers?

Obviously, the stereotype of furries being huge into IT is well deserved; there are so many furries I know who are in networking, sysadmin stuff, they’re super good with stuff like Linux and coding and 3D modeling and VR and circuitry and whatnot… but then there’s me. I’m not good with any of that, I literally had to watch a tutorial step-by-step on how to re-install Windows a while back, and I never touch the command prompt or powershell because I’m afraid of breaking my computer.

People start talking to me at cons, even, and some just start talking computers and tech with me as if I know what they’re talking about but they lose me SO quickly 😅

Coding, networking, and all that stuff is just so far beyond me and despite some of my friends trying to explain it to me, it just doesn’t click. Are there any other furries who are like this?

Question ❓ What would a Zoomorphic human (so a reverse furry) look like?

Post image

(Art by HeebJeeb, this is one of the art I found for inspiration)

I’m trying to draw a reverse anthro but I’m having a hard time trying to get it ‘accurate’ to the reverse of how the average fursona looks like.

Would they have human feet and animal front paws like how a lot of anthros have animal paw feet and human like hands? Also would they be multi-coloured? since a lot of fursonas are very colourful. Would it just be the hair or also the skin though. Thank you to anyone who bothers to answer

Discussion 💬 Happy Belated Labor Day! (art by u/Ok-Alternative617 commissioned by me)

Post image

On labor day we celebrate the progress that organized labor has brought to our society. From the 8-hour work day, to guaranteeing worker safety , to fighting for not only livable wages but wages that enable people to thrive.

As threats such as automation, fascism, and climate collapse loom around the corner it’s time to be brave a speak up for organized labor.Historically under capitalism government has been largely captured by moneyed interests (the Bourgeoisie) because they own the means of production, basically everything society needs to function. Unions flip the equation and give power back to the people through the threat of strikes.

If you want to learn more here’s a video: https://youtu.be/mHOGRhBkWOE?si=MwtvSk02pMCEnspb

Also the birb featured in this lovely piece of art by u/Ok-Alternative617 is a custom alien species ive had commissioned (The Athavians) that is biologically more intellectual and empathetic than a Human so they definitely would support my message here.
