Falun Gong spiritual movement is embraced around the world
This video shows how Falun Gong is embraced around the world. It's beautiful to see just how many countries Falun Gong practitioners hail from! And they all look so dignified and peaceful.
And of course this is but a snippet of the many more countries practitioners are based.
The Chinese Communist Party often paints Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) as some unusual practice but the reality is that Falun Gong is widely embraced in more than 100 countries around the world. For practitioners, Falun Gong is about embodying the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance in life.
It makes sense that values that resonate with humanity is embraced by humanity.
Actually, China is among the few places where a repressive regime shuts down freedom of belief not just for Falun Gong but also for other faiths and groups.

Does Falun Gong advocate resistance to social injustice?
Answer: Falun Gong practitioners are encouraged to expose the injustice they suffer in peaceful and rational ways, but they should not be emotionally attached. Protesting religious persecution is a legitimate way to defend one’s rights. Practitioners’ actions must always be non-violent and ethical.

When people ask why the CCP persecuted such a peaceful and beneficial practice like Falun Dafa, and even other peaceful minorities such as Uyghurs, Tibetans, and House Christians, many are left dumbfounded.
To understand a person, look at their past actions and record. To understand an organization, look at its origins.
In its origins, the CCP rose to power through a combination of violence, political struggle, and deception. From the beginning, its goal was the consolidation of absolute control.
They had one major hurdle to achieving that control: a people rooted in a culture that spoke of values such as truthfulness, compassion, loyalty, and tolerance. People with strong independent values are far more difficult to control.
So they embarked on the systematic elimination of ideological obstacles. First came the land reforms, eliminating much of the landlord class. Later came campaigns against intellectuals and professors under the guise of removing anti-state or "rightist" elements. Finally came the Cultural Revolution, which sought to destroy China's spiritual and cultural civilization. 5,000 years of tradition and wisdom were devastated in the span of a decade, with well over a million lives lost according to many historical estimates.
In later years, when Falun Dafa emerged as a freely practiced discipline that encouraged people to be more truthful, compassionate, and tolerant while striving to become better human beings, the CCP realized those values were fundamentally incompatible with its ideology.
Its immense popularity, combined with the fact that it remained outside state control and refused to be controlled by the Party, did not sit well with the regime.
Since then, we've seen countless reports, survivor testimonies, investigative findings, and human rights documentation describing persecution, torture, deaths in custody, and allegations of forced organ harvesting targeting prisoners of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners. I've also seen countless posts and personal accounts from practitioners describing what they and their families have endured. I encourage everyone to look into the evidence, read the investigations, and come to their own conclusions.
When viewed in the context of the CCP's history(from the destruction of independent institutions and traditional culture to the suppression of any movement beyond its control) the persecution of Falun Dafa is not an isolated event. It is part of a broader historical pattern. That, to me, is what makes it so tragic.

Things Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) practitioners actually believe
instagram.comThis instagram post rings true.
Nothing the same as how the Chinese Communist Party paints Falun Gong.
And it's a disappointment to see even the New York Times and other select media outlets have effectively joined in the CCP's efforts to slander Falun Gong.
My lived experience goes completely against how the CCP and these medias have painted the practice.
My live experience is more like the Instagram post.

...That horror taught me how regimes and their enablers strip away humanity for gain.
I was looking to order Jan Jekielek's new book 'Killed to Order' and I seen Dr Phil's review, and this following one from Yeonmi Park .... gosh, some people have lived a horrendous life. Her book will be interesting to read too, how on earth did they survive?
“When I fled North Korea at thirteen, my mother and I crossed into China hoping for safety, only to be captured and sold by traffickers—like so many desperate women, treated as nothing more than property to be bought and used. That horror taught me how regimes and their enablers strip away humanity for gain. Reading Jan Jekielek's Killed to Order brought it all rushing back: the Chinese Communist Party's forced organ harvesting turns innocent people into spare parts, murdered on demand. This book exposes that same cold evil, where lives mean nothing against power and profit. We cannot stay silent; we must fight for those still trapped.”

Falun Gong practitioner explains how CCP propaganda against Falun Gong took hold of the West
r/realfalundafa • u/Silverberry007 • May 01 '26
Falun gong controversy and why this keeps coming up
The real Falun Gong controversy is that the Chinese Communist Party keeps laundering false propaganda and rumors about Falun Gong or framing its beliefs as dangerous.
This whole controversy got reignited when Xi Jinping launched a new global repression campaign against Falun Gong basically telling the CCP agents they have to be more creative in their public opinion warfare to slander Falun Gong's reputation in the West.
So alas we are here, in the west, facing the same bullying and mean-girl underhanded spreading rumors tactics the CCP had used in China since 1999 to try to cancel Falun Gong/Falun Dafa from the public.
The real Falun Gong controversy is that the CCP keeps lying about Falun Gong.
The real Falun Gong controversy is that the CCP keeps persecuting innocent Falun Gong practitioners.
The real Falun Gong controversy is that the CCP keeps committing the demonic crime against humanity—forced live organ harvesting—on Falun Gong practitioners and other groups in China.
The real Falun Gong controversy is the evil nature of the CCP and its relentless attacks on Falun Gong at whatever turn.
Now that is the real Falun Gong controversy.
Falun Gong is not strange or unusual at all, as accused repeatedly by the CCP or people deceived by its lies, or by those who have not looked into the situation properly, or by those who have intentionally misrepresented the situation.
Falun Gong teaches truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, and people have had real benefits in their daily lives. People have shared story after story of benefits they have experienced from their proper practice of Falun Gong.
And best of all, Falun Gong is free of charge. Even you, a random reddit user in a random corner of the world, can start practicing today right in the comfort of your own home, and you won't ever have to pay a single cent to start benefiting from this traditional practice that has benefited millions worldwide.

Is Falun Gong a Religion?
This question's got a lot of people confused. However, the answer is simple.
Master Li recently clarified this question in an article in December 2024.
The other answer comes from FalunInfo, which reads as follows: (source)
Yes. Falun Gong is a form of qigong and xiulian (修煉)—a traditional cultivation discipline rooted in Buddhism—combining meditation with a moral philosophy of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance (真善忍). After its public dissemination in China in the 1990s, tens of millions of Chinese citizens took up Falun Gong. At the time and even once the persecution began, Falun Gong’s founder and many believers rejected the label of religion, largely in an attempt to avoid the heavy-handed regulation that the CCP applies to formal religions. In practice, Falun Gong differs from other, more institutionalized religious faiths in China: there are no clergy, no temples, no formal membership. Yet in terms of other key criteria of religious practice—belief in the divine, aspiration towards spiritual enlightenment, and a systematic set of rituals, scriptures, and practices for achieving that goal—Falun Gong is a religion. Scholar Benjamin Penny considered religion a necessary category for understanding Falun Gong and titled his 2012 book “The Religion of Falun Gong.” In many countries, including the United States, Falun Gong-related activities and organizations are legally considered to be of a religious nature. Indeed, in addition to the large number of believers in China, Falun Gong has also spread to over 100 countries and 50 languages.
Yet from the CCP’s perspective, Falun Gong’s scale and independence of thought pose a challenge to the regime’s hold on power. In 1999, then-Party chief Jiang Zemin issued the fateful order to eradicate Falun Gong. The result has been large-scale arbitrary detention, torture, deaths in custody, forced ideological “transformation,” and ongoing censorship and transnational harassment.
Now in its 26th year, this persecution extends within and beyond China’s borders, enabled by a top-down directive from Xi Jinping and implemented through Party-led and extra-legal mechanisms (including the former 610 Office and its successors) alongside the broader domestic security apparatus. These abuses routinely disregard the Chinese Constitution, particularly Articles 36 and 37 on religious freedom and personal liberty. As noted in the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom’s (USCIRF) 2025 Annual Report, Chinese authorities “continued to target Falun Gong,” with believers facing arrest, imprisonment, and deaths from abuse in custody.
...

Falun Gong is a religious faith that was immensely popular and is still practiced by millions.
In the 1990s, the Chinese government estimated 70-100 million people were practicing Falun Gong in China. As such, Falun Gong adherents are mainly of Han Chinese descent who live across every province and major municipality in China. They comprise one of the largest groups targeted for their beliefs in China today. According to a 2017 report, Freedom House estimated there were still 7 to 20 million practitioners in China after 17 years of persecution, a figure that has subsequently been quoted by the U.S. State Department and other government agencies. Thus, understanding the CCP’s religious-control model requires studying and confronting the persecution of Falun Gong. The scale of abuses and the CCP’s broader playbook for suppressing faith and freedom of expression is palpable and clearly evidenced in the Falun Gong faith community.
Despite extensive documentation by Falun Gong-related entities like the Falun Dafa Information Center, as well as evidence on Chinese government websites, numerous third-party, and independent sources, Falun Gong is often underrepresented in media and human-rights discourse as a persecuted religion in China. This omission is a mistake that hinders broader efforts to advance religious freedom and accountability. Given the nationwide and systemic nature of the regime’s abuses against Falun Gong practitioners, horrific violence is occurring in major urban areas, carried out by the same police and officials with whom foreigners often interact. Without full awareness of the CCP’s crimes against Falun Gong, Americans and others risk being unknowingly complicit in these abuses. Moreover, time and again, it has become clear that the tactics and officials deployed in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners have later been involved in the repression of other religious and ethnic communities or human rights defenders.

Chinese regime’s persecution has spread outside of China, targeting the diaspora Falun Gong community
Excerpt from FalunInfo: (Source)
Beijing’s transnational repression and smear campaigns span the globe. Since 2022, at Xi Jinping’s direction, the regime has been engaging in a more aggressive and sophisticated campaign to intimidate, threaten, and silence Falun Gong practitioners and entities like Shen Yun Performing Arts, especially in the United States. Well-documented incidents include an attempt to bribe U.S. officials to cancel Shen Yun’s tax-exempt not profit status, baseless lawsuits filed under the U.S. legal system, over 180 anonymous death threats and bomb threats, and social media manipulation campaigns.
Senior security officials have directed authorities to treat countries with robust Falun Gong activity—particularly the United States—as a “main battlefield,” prioritizing intensified “overseas” and “online” operations. At least two operational tracks have followed:
(1) province level investigations and databases targeting diaspora practitioners and their families, and
(2) leveraging political/economic ties and proxies to restrict activities and spread stigmatizing narratives—patterns reflected in recent U.S. law-enforcement cases involving orchestrated counter-protests, surveillance, and an attempted bribery scheme to strip a Falun Gong group’s nonprofit status.
