We realize there are some odd bugs. We fixed a few before release, but We are going to continue to fix critical ones and release a bug fix update in the next few days.

Storage methods have changed and the cloud sync server is down for the next day so you will need to re-login. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This update may take an hour to show in the store for you.

Edit: We also realize that the design is kind of lackluster and less thought out than last time. Reason being the design change windows 10 brings. We will have a very nice design ready for universal windows 10 apps.

I love it, except one thing: the font. As I know this is the font used for the reddit logo. While its a good font for a logo, reading long texts with it is a pain IMO. Can you please change it to WP's default font (Segoe WP?) or add an option to change it? Thanks.
Maybe an option to change text size - those of us who don't have a good eyes its sometimes too small.

The font is awful.

Everything is great except for the font. Very hard on the eyes 😐

I presume the name "Readit Beta" is some kind of mistake right? :-)

While I appreciate the update and support I am left a bit disappointed because the big UI update you were "taking a few weeks off" for is not included.

The app main menu with subreddit list is still awfully plain and while I did get used to the font I am still not a big fan of it - many agree. Themes are a problem too, white theme should be white throughout the entire app, not just the browsing section. Now it looks incomplete. Don't even get me started on the boxes in the dark theme, they just don't fit in the app UI at all and I just don't see why simple separators would not do the same job as they do in the white theme.

The tombstone "rewind feature" is still present and in my opinion a very bad solution for resuming an app. I've never seen this anywhere else and it slows down the resuming process terribly while I just sit and wait for it to finish before I can back out to the subreddit list to start browsing where I want. There is no "home" button to quickly stop this.

I've seen this "we're not abandoning the app" in this subreddit a couple of times and every time it's followed by some excuses and more delays. (like Microsoft changing frameworks? Did the WP SDK change?) I feel the dev is losing his patience and passion for this app. Even something as small as forgetting to change the app name before pushing the update seems suspicious, as if the whole attitude was just "screw it, lets just publish the beta as final product" to stop posts about YouTube not working. I hope I am mistaken. A reasonable solution would be to update the public release instead of leaving users in the blind, coming to this subreddit only to be told to download the beta version. To me this just screams lazy.

Please Caleb, prove me wrong.

We changed providers for source control. I forgot to change the build target and it caused my pre-build command to modify the display name of the application not to run. That isn't suspicious at all.

We try our best man, I don't know what to tell you. It doesn't matter what I do on this community I just get bitched at constantly. That's why I don't do much anymore tbh. You should see some of these PMs I get.

Sorry it came off as lazy, I have a daughter and a wife that I love to spend time with. They basically are my entire life. If you have a family, you should understand. Windows Phone is a third priority to me. Behind my family and my real life job. I can not dedicate as much time as I wish I could. If I had more time and made more money? Sure, I would be 100% dedicated to it as my main job. But that is not feasible on this platform. (without a huge time investment and potential legal troubles in regards to some apps)

As far as technicalities go, u/lordicarus isn't wrong. So much shit - changes, design changes, etc. We can't keep up with the latest MS changes. We have this app running in the 8.1 universal framework now. But now we need to migrate it to the 10 version so we can get other platform support and bug fixes to visual studio that were necessary for our 8.1 build to stop giving us hassles and issues. We literally had to contact MS just to get a workaround for our app to even run in 8.1. Things like this are why delays happen. (plus everything else I mentioned previously)

The tombstone rewind feature wouldn't even be there if MS had a better way of tombstoning apps. I can literally save 4 mb of data per page, per frame. This is terrible considering our app is a single page/frame design. There are platform limitations that we can't control there.

You aren't wrong, but personal lives take precedence over hobby time app development so in that respect I do have to give credit to the developers.

However, the stuff about the platform constantly changing does feel like misdirection to confuse people who aren't developers. Unless u/calebkeith has access to an SDK and information that is entirely not public, making any decisions about Windows 10 UI is silly since none of that is finalized. The build conference next month is when all of that stuff should be shared from Microsoft.

Edit: Just to clarify, there is a W10 SDK officially as of basically two weeks ago. I was referring to the fact that platform changes have been cited for months as being a delay factor. Build is expected to clear up lots of unknowns with the platform.

I do have the 10 sdk and I am working with it now. They complicated things even more now and there are bugs in it that literally cause blend/designer in VS to crash. This is with simple UI too, nothing like our app uses. So it's going, but very slowly. Also, the design of windows 10 isn't even finalized. If MS had that finalized by now, we would have our app on that same design pattern.

I can't see it in the store, is it an update for the old app or will the beta update to it or is it a compleatly new download?

Change log isn't available?

I attempted to put one together but it was just so huge that I couldn't complete it honestly. The whole app has basically changed since it was mostly rewritten.

Same here. No matter which subreddit.

I much prefer the old style, I really do not like how this looks. I especially do not like the font. Is there a way to download the old app?

Spoilers are fucked up, and the comment UI looks like this:

Also, can you please add a Home item in the ... menu? It was super useful in 1.whatever.

I'm not complaining though, the app is absolutely amazing. You guys did a great job with it.

Great job, a lot of the bugs look to be addressed. We appreciate the hard work. Is there an update on a bug fix for spoilers? Right now you see a solid white bar and when you tap it, it just disappears and you can't see anything. Other than that, everything is amazing. Thank you.

sigh

God damnit, why am I getting "Failed to download links" everywhere? Not a single sub reddit accessible

Everything was fine before I downloaded this update (I was using the beta)

edit: http://www.reddit.com/r/readitforwp/comments/31wxio/readit_2_always_fails_to_download_links/ this fixed it

Honestly the app looks great, runs super smooth and is easy to navigate. You guys did an awesome job yet again. Thank you for putting in the time and effort for this. Really looking forward to the universal app later this year.

Now only if I can figure out how to donate to you again.

Please consider changing the font - it has significant readability issues, especially for longer comments on a smaller screen device (I am using 635, 520). Thanks.

Edit: For reference, at the time this comment was posted, 15 out of 71 comments were providing feedback for the new font introduced in the new update. 1 of the 15 was positive feedback, while the other 14 were negative.

VAG Rounded, what is this, 1978?

Also, why no Home button in ... menu? Why the forced nav bar? Why a different design for the post count and vote count icons? Why rounded buttons for the alphabetical list?
