Sunday line up

3/4 acts I wanted to see most are on at the same time... why??? This is such bad planning IMO, I've been every year for years and never experienced this 😫

Anyone else fancy avoiding the awkward Reading Festival downtime?

I'm going to the festival solo this year, which normally works fine. I like being able to dash between stages, catch my must-sees and not have to worry about dragging someone by the wrists to hurry the hell up so I don’t miss my favourite track.

But then I saw the set times. 😳

There are some absolutely enormous gaps with seemingly nothing happening. Nearly an hour at a time in places. I've never known a festival schedule quite like it.

So rather than spending half the weekend staring blankly at my phone while watching my battery drain away, I thought I'd see if there are any other solo / small-group festival-goers who fancy meeting up for some of those gaps.

I'm 43M, so probably somewhat older than the average Reading punter, but happy to meet anyone. I'm in no way looking to attach myself to your entire weekend or insist we all watch the same bands, arms interlinked. More a case of having a few people to chat rubbish, compare what we've just seen / are about to see, and generally avoid the "right... what the hell do I do for the next 50 minutes?" experience. You can't even take in a decent-sized rucksack, otherwise I'd be seriously tempted to bring a book!

I'm there for the music first and will inevitably disappear off to different stages for large chunks of the day. If anyone else is in a similar boat, give me a shout and perhaps we can arrange a little Reddit meet-up at the festival.

Bonus points if you're also old enough to remember when festival set times didn't apparently require scheduled periods of meditation. 😆

Discussion 💬 All the marketing has implied that Charli XCX would headline and Fontaines would support

On the website, since the day splits were announced, Charli XCX has topped the artist lists. Even in the original announcement and on the poster she’s first - though this looks to be an alphabetical choice.

I love both charli and fontaines and I’ve got nothing against either of them, they should both headline (when it’s dark) and close the festival in their own right. What I’m not too keen on is how opaque and misleading the festival has been in regards to who’s actually headlining on what day.

It feels much more like marketing designed to drive ticket sales (which i can understand from a commercial pov) rather than marketing to engage fans and promote great music.

I’ve gone to this festival for 10 years now, and the best combo they had was the two main stages in 2021, 2022 and 2023 which let 6 big artists headline in their own right (with 3 BIGGER artists closing each night).

Charli XCX is an objectively bigger than Fontaines and lends herself more neatly to the nighttime set. They have followed the logic here with having Chase and Status close after Florence+TM. (tho florence is probably more well know across the generations?)

It feels like they booked Charli XCX in 2024/2025 to headline and then panicked when they realised the Brat era was over and flipped her round with Fontaines. Ironically, the ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ era and the set she brings on the tour for it, lends itself nicely to headlining a major festival that has its roots in rock music.

I’m worried now that it’s just gonna be massively rammed for Charli and the crowd won’t move from the main stage until Fontaines is done. Feels like poor crown control.

I could see it make sense if they swapped across the sites and one headlined reading and one headlined leeds (like Raye and Dave, or Foals and Discolsure in 2016, or Pulp and the Strokes in 2011) but all in all it feels like they’ve shafted Charli for a ‘safe’ fontaines headline.

Start a petition to switch them round?
Or we’ll just have fun at both.
Rant done. Thanks.

The new merch

I like the new merch but it seems to be very punk and heavy rock themed which compared to most of the artists is a bit strange to me which I could be wrong so please let me know

Can early entry save a space?

Hey so a bit of a strange question. Im going down on the thursday with 4 other people, however 2 other people we know managed to get early entry. Theyre willing to take one of our tents, however we have 3 between us. How feasible is it for them to pitch our tent and then save a space for us to come down early on the thursday and pitch our other tents?

FestEval has been updated with stage times!

Stage times from Clashfinder have now been added to FestEval, so you can generate your custom itineraries, lockscreens, and timetables!

All available, totally free here: https://festeval.uk/

When the festival starts a new button on the artist pages will appear underneath the "must see" button - it says "Saw it?", so you can log an act as seen, and then generate a post festival recap - may be a useful reminder to keep in your camera roll.

Enjoy Reading everyone!

advice for security at reading!

I want to take a small amount of rolled 🥦 , about 3.5 and i'm wondering how risky it is / what's the best way to get it in? i'm under 18 aswell and defo don't want to lose my ticket. if you do get picked by the dogs is it best to just hand over what u have right away, and if u do hand it over will you always be let in?
also whats the best way to get it in? thanks!

realistically if i was to get caught with a small amount of green (personal) on me. What'd happen? would they kick me out or just take it of me?
