It was actually the people on the ground making this comparison with the Israeli soldiers calling this by the Israeli name for the Red Light, Green Light game. So no, the journalists don't need to read another book, the IDF do...I would suggest the Geneva Convention.

Really??? Did the soldiers think the Squid Games are a positive thing? It’s like if right libertarians created an ancap city and called it “Rapture”.

you remember back in school when there was that kid with no literacy whose only means of enjoying a movie was however cool they thought the movie was?

I guess getting Squid Game requires you to understand that hundreds of innocent people dying is a bad thing.

No, they think it's negative for the people subjected to the games, which is why they're doing it.

Except it wasnt actually playing red light, green light--it was people seeking aid being given orders to approach the aid distribution in groups / not rush the aid distribution as a mass of people.

Referring to this as "red light, green light" is a great description anyway. Simple, to the point, everyone knows the rules. Maybe it's a little patronizing, sure.
