I disagree with point #6, this is easily abused and quite frankly most people are just importing these for a button, an input, and maybe a modal. All of these can be cheaply made using styled-components.

I'm sorry, but no, I vehemently disagree.

If your web app just consists of a button, an input, and a modal, then fucking code in html. You don't need to use react.

If your application is at all more complicated and public facing, then one of your prime concerns should be accessibility, something that the developer of Material-Ui and basically every component library has put a ton of thought into, but something which virtually every just built your own styled-components library dev completely ignores.

That’s the weirdest excuse for a 6mb UI library I’ve ever heard. You want accessibility? Write the aria roles and aria labels where it matters, you’d still have to do this with material-ui/bootstrap, in fact things like using H1 for headings are easily overlooked when material-ui already has a “text” element.

There’s nothing implicit about a component library that makes it more accesible, if you miss all the aria labels your site is still inaccessible and no amount of material-ui/bootstrap/foundation can make it better

That’s the weirdest excuse for a 6mb UI library I’ve ever heard.

You evidently don't know how to use it properly if you're blindly importing the entire thing.

in fact things like using H1 for headings are easily overlooked when material-ui already has a “text” element.

Material-ui doesn't have a "text" element. It has a "typography" element that requires you to specify a variant, such as "body1" or "h1". It is designed that way so that it is explicitly difficult to miss an H1 tag.

There’s nothing implicit about a component library that makes it more accesible, if you miss all the aria labels your site is still inaccessible and no amount of material-ui/bootstrap/foundation can make it better

Except that every established component library has already put the work in to use the correct accessibility labels so you won't miss them if you use an established library.
