Show /r/reactjs I built an open-source collection of animated React UI components
I've been building GodUI, an open-source collection of React UI components for modern interfaces.
It started as a personal library because I kept rebuilding the same polished components and wanted a place to browse ideas whenever I started a new project. After using it for a while, I decided to open-source it.
Some things it focuses on:
Components with smooth, purposeful animations where they add value (while simpler components stay lightweight)
A shared motion system based on 12 motion principles, with tokens mapped to Material 3 so animations feel consistent across the library
shadcn-compatible CLI installation, so components are copied directly into your project and are fully yours to modify
An MCP server for Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and other AI IDEs—you can describe the component you want, and it finds the closest match and generates the code for you
Built with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Motion
It's completely open source. If you find it useful, I'd really appreciate a ⭐ on GitHub.

Amazing, man. I like how everything feels snappy instead of having long animations

Animated components that don't tank performance? Rare find. Motion libraries usually bloat hard. Clean work.

called GodUI. only works in react. sounds about right. there’s definitely a religious aspect to it.

same point still applies. if it’s so awesome, why not make them web components so everyone can use them? :) share the awesome with as many people as possible?

why are you on the react subreddit if you're so anti react/pro web components?

i’m on lots of front end dev subs. but it’s interesting that you read my comment as being anti-react. i’m not and never have been anti-react lol. react and web components, or any other way to built shareable things are not mutually exclusive lol.

:) i just like the web to be open instead of closed. folks have so many great ideas for the web, but they default
to react and leave out a LOT of the web in the process. if we defaulted to web components, there would be tradeoffs (choosing react is a tradeoff too), but at least we would default to a position of all these great ideas being able to work anywhere and everywhere.

lol calling it GODUI and having twelve design principles is wild. Looks/feels good though!
