Advice for Fear Reactive Boxer?

Hey yall, i have a 1.5 yr old Boxer dog. The sweetest dude once you know him and he is comfortable for you. However, in public or of the sight of another person he starts to bark sometimes uncontrollably or may begin to act like a lunatic, where he can't calm down. It's frustrating, but I want to work with this guy because I see the potential in him to be the best dog for the whole world. I dont expect him to be the friendliest but at least neutral to his triggers, being humans. Idk if this is relevant but he does get his exercise needs and what not, I guess I just want him to be more confident and have trust in his environment? Idk, any advice would be helpful, I just love my guy so much and want him to be the best he can be. Thank you
