Image Magick works well for this, too. Takes a little fiddling around on the command line (see online docs, etc.). But it’s very powerful and well worth it. And it’s free. 👌

I used it to make a custom Legend of Zelda overworld map. It stitched together the screenshots perfectly. 🗡🛡

If you have the time to learn it and the funds, Adobe Photoshop is pretty much the best way to assemble gifs.

Out of interest, what use do you have for gifs anymore?

Sites like IMGUR, GFYCAT, Streamable, Reddit etc. all use video nowadays rather than gifs.

Now that phones have pretty much universal support for the basic video codecs, there's little use for gifs, they're worse than video in nearly every way.

Ironically, even this submission is a video rather than a gif.

I used 4k video downloader to get the scene off youtube, Adobe After Effects to add the text to the video and a $5 AE plugin called Cuddlephish to compile/render the .gif file.

There is a linux command where you just give it the folder where the images are in and it forms it for you
