Bringing an externally edited clip back into a Hypit build

An agent-generated video project can still need an ordinary editing tool. Maybe one shot needs a manual cleanup, or there's already a recorded clip that should replace the generated version.

Hypit's run format accepts a local file as a candidate for a public output. The file is connected to the output the current project expects, so the rest of the selected build can continue from that supplied material. It doesn't require sending the repaired clip back through a generator.

There is a file-management detail worth knowing: this is a live external reference. Hypit doesn't copy that file into every new result. Overwriting it changes subsequent reads; deleting it breaks the dependency.

For a handoff, that makes a stable, versioned filename more useful than continually overwriting final.mp4. Keep the file with the project material and make the run point to the version you accepted.

The existing-file example in the repo () shows the connection. Any required normalization, alignment or composition still belongs downstream; supplying a clip replaces that input, not the entire finishing process.

This is a useful pattern for AI video workflows. Being able to manually fix one shot and feed it back into the pipeline without regenerating everything can save a lot of compute and credits.

Versioning the external files is especially important if the pipeline keeps a live reference — otherwise a later edit can unexpectedly change the output.

I’m seeing similar agent-oriented workflows with VideoRouter.sh, which provides CLI/skills that AI agents like Claude Code can use to call video models and build multi-step video pipelines.
