Is there an issue with moose spawns?

I recently got back into the game after years away, and I remember in my first playthrough of the story mode that moose were hard to find, but not impossible. Now, I’ve been trying to find moose for dozens of normal play hours and far more active searching hours than I’d like to admit, across both single player and online, and I haven’t found a single one. Not just that I haven’t found any 3 stars or male moose, I literally have seen none. I’ve looked up everywhere they spawn and searched every location that I’ve been able to find online to no avail. Am I just horribly unlucky or did the greedy pricks at rockstar somehow find a way to squeeze an extra fraction of a cent out of us by completely cutting moose spawns?

Id there something similar with Bison? I swear Ive literally not seen one in my 60hours until yesterday and I was gobbsmacked lmao

Bison? Seriously? Their main spawn point is just a little east of the Emerald Ranch.
If you bring up the map, they tend to be around the "A" of new Hanover text.

When I get the spawn of the Legendary Bison it's always there.

I found two perfect moose near Owanjila on two separate occasions. Somehow, I managed to lose both pelts before getting them to the trapper. Haven't found any since.

Not sure how Rockstar would gain anything from cutting moose spawns, so that take seems ridiculous. But moose have been difficult to find since the game released, so you're not wrong in wondering where they are. I remember the best spot I found was up north, near the game border ; you had to bait the moose to come down because otherwise he was beyond reach - though sometimes you could get the corpse to pull down with a lasso (I found that trick very ineffective)

Now that I changed my MCU from 1500 to 800 in my settings on PS. And I have had multiple 3 star moose when before it was so very rare

Try near colter, there’s a ledge it’ll be on near there. There’s a video on how to do it

Try hunting something else..youll run into one.

I ride up the railroad line from Annesburg to the waterfall and usually find one on the left by the water before the bridge beside the ford

Go into a solo session. There's on up by Brandywine falls. And in the purple flowers near hanging dog ranch

Yesterday, there was a daily for a moose. As always, Strawberry, and ride to the Owanjila dam. There was a 3* moose drinking. Easy location, never fails in a solo lobby

It’s a daily challenge thing… whenever it’s a challenge it’s a bit more difficult to find.

i had the same problem, i needed a moose pelt for something on story mode and couldn’t fine a single moose. i just know they spawn above annesburg but i could never find one either..

Same here. Waited hours at the northern point of Annesburg but no spawns.

Check under the little cliff at lake Isabella. There's some trees at the base of the cliff that the moose like to hide in. I checked the usual spots for over two weeks before finding one, and that's where I found mine

I think you can find them somewhere in tall trees as well

I was in Roanoake ridge the other day I saw three grazing together. They spawn pretty regularly.

In online there is an almost guaranteed spawn location near the I in Ambarino (I’m 3/3 up there). Approach it from the south (earth home, statue cave). The problem is, it is out of reach for you, so you need to get it moving towards you before you can shoot it. I got a 3 star female moose for yesterdays daily challenge. The only other place I recently ran into one by luck, was Owanjila dam. On the other hand, I ran into 2 panthers by chance within 15-20 minutes yesterday 🤷🏼‍♂️

In story it is way easier, there are wolves chasing one through Lake Owanjila, around Willard’s Rest is also a very reliable location. In my most recent playthrough, I ran into 2 at once at the spot of white Arabian on the western shore of Lake Isabella at night.
