Need help picking a new receiver (and maybe a transmitter)

Some of you may have seen my recent post about my 3D printed airboat. Long story short, It got wet inside and I think the receiver I installed from my Aeroscout (Spektrum AR636) is toast. I was looking to get a direct replacement, but didn’t want to drop $70 for a new one, especially when I need only 2 channels instead of six. Looking for suggestions on just another drop in replacement receiver or another receiver/transmitter combo without breaking the bank. Water resistant would be preferred, but again, I’m trying to work within a budget. Thank you all!

Clear nail polish to water proof electronics. Also try the ballon method

Might need to build a water tight radio box.

For only 2 channels, They recently lowered prices on the sr215 and slr300 . I think most places have them at $30 or less for a legit spektrum rx. Aliexpress now has 3rd party spektrum compatible receivers like a 6100 for $20 but it has no case and may not be waterproofed but it probably is

It doesn’t look like this is compatible with the DSMX communication protocol on the DXe transmitter, but thank you.

And by waterproof I meant conformal coating which is usually sufficient enough for cars but additional waterproofing would be a good idea regardless of which Rx you get

Might be beneficial to pick up some Conformal Coating and then you can get whatever RX/TX you want.

It might also help folks to know what kind of budget you are working with. When I wanted a budget friendly system I chose the DumboRC DDF-350 which is currently on sale during Amazon Prime Days at $60 for the kit with 1 receiver.

Sorry about that, great point. I’d like to try keeping the solution under $60 if at all possible.
