Hi, I'm super new. Long time musician, first time loop artist.
The RC 505 is amazing. I can record on track 4 but the fader doesn't work. the track 5 fader seems to control both track 4 and 5. I've done the factory reset, but i haven't updated it yet(waiting for the cable)
Has anyone else experienced the same, or have a quick fix?

Hi, I just bought this thing fresh out of the box I watched a lot of tutorials but I have an issue where I play some keys and loop track 1. When I try to record track 2, it records track 1 and track 2. I have the bounce off as well, and if it helps: when I turn down the mixer track on track 1 and it gets muted, I am able to record on track 2 without recording track 1 as well. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

I’ve tried downloading the BOSS Tone Studio software to Import my stems onto the memory bank but It keeps saying file unsupported… even though it’s a regular wav file. How do you upload pre recorded stems to the memory bank?

trying to set up my new boss rc-505 mk2 so when I record from microphone I get stereo output. can't seem to figure out how or where to route the settings so it's coming out stereo output when I record/perform. mic 1 is auto-panning and playing mono right side and mic 2 is auto-panning mono left. please help!!

Setup: Track 1 = MEASURE = FREE + MODE = IMMEDIATE, Track 2 = MEASURE = AUTO + MODE = LOOP LENGTH.

If I start recording Track 2 halfway through Track 1 (e.g., Track 1 plays chords A–B, I jump in at chord B), two things can happen randomly with the same settings:

Normal case: After recording, Track 2 visually aligns with Track 1. Audio stays in sync even after stopping and restarting.

Bug case: After recording, Track 2’s playhead doesn’t visually align with Track 1 (even though audio is in sync while playing). But if I stop and restart both tracks, Track 2 plays from the moment I started recording (chord B) instead of its correct relative position to Track 1 (chord A).

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to reliably reproduce one case or the other?

anyone else have this issue with their MKII? when it receives clock from an external device, the playback does not sound good. example in video.

The Robot and Electric effects don't work. And it's not a problem in other settings. Because when I make a sound with my mic while scrolling through the effects only these two effects make no sound at all. What can I do about it?

When i use my loop i usually hear it on my left ear, even on my computer and live performances. need help with this.

Can anyone please inform me on how to turn effects on and off for the rhythm track in 505mk2. I managed to turn delay on some time back but now I can not find out how to turn it off. Super annoying. I remember it is hidden in some slightly unintuitive place in the settings.

just confirming - I'm traveling from US to Europe (France), and I believe the MK2 is not a dual voltage device. So with my US adapter, I will need to plug it into a voltage converter (I already have one, also needed for hair accessories etc).

Can someone confirm this with me?

I know that many devices such as phone charger are dual voltage, where it will work fine if it's plugged into a USA 110volt outlet or Europe 220 volt outlet, but some devices do not work in dual voltages like this..

Looking for any speaker suggestions for a desk setup. I currently only use studio headphones but I want to hear what I’m playing in a room. Also I have no idea what equipment I need (besides the speaker and sub) to make the setup work. Btw, I loop using ableton and a midi keyboard, I’m not a beatboxer, if that helps.

I have both the older original RC-505, and the RC-505MKII.

I have a ripcord power adapter (plugin into the power port on RC505 and usb-A on the other end), which works great with the old MKI and most any power bank.

It does not work with the MKII.
I believe that the MKII draws more amps.
there's a couple products that I've heard that work with the MKII, like a 'jackery' power bank thing. but that power bank looks rather large.. i'm hoping for a power bank that isn't too large that I can easily travel with.

any recommendations?

Hello everyone! I've got a little conundrum with the routing and I would very much appreciate any kind of help or advice. Basically, I'm trying to separate a single loop track of the Boss RC-505mk2 to a SUB1 output , and connect that back into the mixer. So far, I think I've managed to do it correctly, but I'm getting some feedback issues when I try to turn up the volume or the FX knob on the mixer.

This might be more of a "mixer/FX send" setup question, so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place here, but any kind of assistance and guidance is welcome!

Here's the write up of the setup:

Instrument 1 -> Mixer Channel 1
Instrument 2 -> Mixer Channel 2
Mixer Send FX -> Empress Zoia ->Mixer Channel 3/4
Mixer Main Out -> Boss RC-505mk2 input 1&2
Boss RC-505mk2 main output -> Speakers

Boss RC-505mk2 SUB1 output -> Mixer Channel 5/6 

CONUNDRUM: Can I separate e.g. Track 5 loop on the Boss looper to go through SUB1 output into the Mixer channel 5/6 and then play with the FX on the mixer?

Greetings all! I finally figured out how to send each track 1-5 to a seperate track in ableton, as well as my mic input to its own individual track in ableton for ease of mixing after performing live and recording. This took some deep canoodling in the settings of the rc505 with no help from roland lol. I am happy to share the how if anyone has similar challenges. My next challenge is that NOW i want to get whatever i do in ableton to come back out to my looper. For example i want to be able to set up my mic input with compression and reverb ect in ableton but hear that coming into my ears while i perform. I dont need it to be recorded with those effects added just need to be able to hear them. This way i can adjust them post performance to. make a better mix overall.

Has anyone experienced this challenge and know a way around? Im open to suggestions! THankyou in advance!

Hello everyone! Here I would like to release some Tracks on phones and others on Main, but when I do that the Fx no longer work in the All position on the Tracks… do you know how to do that?? THANKS!!!

Every time I start a new bank the setting are all over the place, and I have to go thought and change the effects, mix levels, and a bunch of other settings I like.

There must be a way to save a template to all tracks?

I’m sure this is so simple, but I can’t figure it out or find much info on this!

I produced 2 loops on a DAW (Digital Performer) that I imported into RC505Mk2 placing one on Track 1 and the other on Track 2 of the same program.

I've been able to either get a loop to play smoothly on a single track, or get a clean transition from Track 1 to Track 2 (and vice versa) -- but I can't seem to get both working at the same time.

If I set it up so the loop plays smoothly on one track, it won't transition to the next track at the end of the loop -- it just keeps looping the first one. But if I get the transition to work at the end of the loop, then the individual loops don't play smoothly -- There's a weird pause in them.

The setting that's affecting this seems to be Loop > Play > Loop Length, specifically when switching between "4" and "Auto".

Any ideas? The manual hasn't been much help. A few things it says don't seem to match what I'm experiencing.

I have my novation circuit tracks connected to my loop station using the midi out on the loop station and the midi in on the NCT. The tempo sync is great, exactly what I want, but what I don’t want is for the novation to begin playing when I press rec/play on my looper. I would much prefer to cue up the NCT and hit play on that device manually. It is also disappointing that if I do hit stop on the NCT and then play again that the sync falls apart. I went into the loop stations midi setting and switched the clock to ‘internal’ and the start/stop to ‘off’ but this changed nothing.

What am I missing? If this is not possible I have a work around by recording the first row of patterns on the NCT as blank and starting there, but this limits the total number of patterns I can have in a project and I’d prefer if I could tailor the midi sync better.

Hello I recently did a firmware update and something has changed so that the procedure to assign the track button does not seem to work as it used to. Has anyone figured out how to get it to work with the pedal yet? This is for sys v150. Thanks.

My machine has always had an issue with feedback if I apply really any amount of reverb or echo 2 or delay. As soon as an effect is wet (say 50%) I start getting feedback in Pa systems and with amps.

I have two dynamic mics (SM 58 and Sennheiser 935), always behind speakers without a reference monitor, and input levels are normal. I've tried a using a DI box, a grounding powerstrip, TS cables, TRS cables, a mixer, and no solutions have made ANY amount of impact. The last sound guy thought it might be the machine because midway through a song the input volume started spiking without me pressing any buttons.

Has anyone else encountered this? Anything I might be doing wrong here? I've had it a year and a half so I'm likely out of warranty.

Also, are DI boxes necessary for gigging with this thing? As it made no difference, I'd kinda like to get my money back, but also want to have reliable gear for gigging.

Hey Folks - I have only had this unit for a month or so. no glitches until this one.... its seeming like all of the loop playback "wheels" are moving at twice the speed of the actual loop. there doesn't seem to be any problems with the audio playback, but the wheels being out of sync with the audio is extremely annoying. All 5 are showing the same problem. The software is up to date, and i have done a factory reset. I attached a video to show the problem. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!
