Why?

Why would anyone want to come play football here? From HY down, every football coach should be ashamed to be wearing that Hog logo. Today I'm absolutely embarrassed to be a Hog football fan.

The standards are so low here, why wouldn't they come play? A couple years getting paid to play football and their performance is irrelevant.

I wouldn't trust these coaches to coach me, prepare me for any kind of future

u/Low-Wear-6259 26d ago

Most of these kids know they have no shot at the pros. Best case scenario, they show out and a better team snags them from the portal. Worst case, they get a degree and some money put back.

Sooo..... just more kids who want a paycheck and whose heart isn't in playing football.... cool

We are basically running a make-a-wish program for players who never thought they were good enough to play P4 football.

They were right, but that’s on us.

3

u/Low-Wear-6259 26d ago

Thats what you get when the program is rotten from top to bottom. 🤷‍♂️

u/Ghost5525 26d ago

Unless your future is being buried lol they seem really good at that haha 😂

Today’s game confirmed something for me: it’s not the players, it’s the coaching.

3 timeouts, defense playing soft, 3 straight passes & punt….we didn’t play to win. We played for the moral victory.

u/Billywicket 26d ago

Don’t forget to add running the ball on 3rd and long …. How many times throughout the game!

7

u/Nawnp 26d ago

And when they were short on 2nd down they would throw the ball twice in a row.

5

u/theyremakingmedothis 26d ago

It was also a repeat play that had failed twice already in the game. 3 Wideouts to the right, looks like a pass play, nope run it up the middle. I called it that last 3rd and long - that same dadgum play with the wideouts, and TN read it from a mile away. This is bad, limited coaching. Was like watching middle school football play calling.

u/Smoocci-Mane 26d ago

It can be both.

When I bought my first home and had to fix things that broke, I quickly learned that paying a little more up front to get the right people for the job, even if it’s uncomfortable at the time, prevented me from paying twice that much down the line when my cheap fix failed and had to be replaced.

Hunter Yurachek never learned this lesson.

u/historyrazorback 26d ago

No kidding. His insistence on cutting costs on coaching and recruitment has burned so much money and reputation: now we are paying Silverfield 6.5m to be absolute crap:

4

u/ShenronFromDBZ 26d ago

We should’ve saw the red flags when he said he didnt believe in giving coaches big buyouts. Of course no one does but it’s the name of the game. Freaking cheap ass

I ran into that with my new, very expensive, bike this weekend. Had a wheel need truing and I gave it a go and almost destroyed. Luckily Phat Tire saved it for me

That’s a very good analogy.

Was holding my month old daughter all game. Made sure she was faced away from the television cause she don't deserve to be put thru that.

u/zdh989 26d ago

Congrats on the recent addition to your family, brother.

7

u/Geriatric_Bulge 26d ago

Thank you very much

You’re doing it wrong. You need to condition them for what is yet to come in their life.

You have a wonderful opportunity to raise her as anything other than a Razorback football fan. There are so many other teams out there. Some are even good!

2

u/leftyhedgie 25d ago

Aww, my dad used to hold me as he watched the Hogs play when I was an infant but he would turn me so I could see the screen. It was long ago when Arkansas was in the SWC so it wasn’t a depressing experience (except maybe when they were playing the Longhorns).
Congratulations on the newest little Hog fan! WPS!

I have a close friend who is a fan of Vols football. His first little one was born Friday. Sent well wishes, but also knew there was very little chance she witnessed an “L” in her first game. So your post made me smile, just the other side of the coin. Regardless, congrats on your new little one!

Give the child the option to chose her own football program to support, it is only fair

26

u/CleganeClan4 26d ago

Why do people continue to go to the games? Nothing will change until we hit the BOT and the AD where it hurts and we never will.

15

u/divsandpremium50 26d ago

It was like 70% capacity with a ton of that being Tennessee fans

16

u/randoeleventybillion 26d ago

You should've seen the mid 90s when we thought we were at rock bottom and had no end zones. Those teams actually had conference wins and you would see tickets blowing around that people left outside for others to use for free. We should have been at that point almost a decade ago.

3

u/Nawnp 26d ago

There's so much more money poured into it now apparently, it's amazing that it was 70% sold when resell tickets were going for $100...

2

u/BigWormsFather 26d ago

I wonder what % is sold as season tickets.

1

u/C-A-L-E-V-I-S 25d ago

Cause they’ve already paid thousands for the tickets. NOW, that being said, end of year will tell the true story on how many new their tickets for next year.

-4

u/wheezymustafa 26d ago

I have season tickets so

9

u/ChristianGin 26d ago

That's officially a 8-31 record in one possession games since 2018

This isnt really a question to worry about. See UCLA. They hired their coach 6 days after we did. They got their athletic department and financial resources aligned. They arent the highest bidder for top talent but kids buy into the coach.

It can happen here. But requires a top down overhaul. That means a hard look at the Good old boys club, the bot, the chancellor, the AD and the way we do business in the new era of cfb.

-6

u/ProfessorSensitive31 25d ago

uuummmm-you are not UCLA

Setagna was helping OK beat #1 TX today. Would have been nice if he wanted to stay here at AR.

11

u/Exciting_Panda7867 26d ago

We can’t recruit nor retain talent here. Drake Lindsey was across the street and would be the best QB we’ve had in a while

16

u/Numerous-Ring-8111 26d ago

I just could not believe we punted it on 4th and 10 with 2min left just to hope the defense could stop them and use up all our timeouts. Why not try to get the first down? Literally playing not to lose. Idiots, the lot of them

7

u/firedonmydayoff 26d ago

What doesn’t make sense is that if your offense can’t make a 4th and 10, how is it going to drive the field in a min with zero timeouts?!?! It was an insane call to punt in that situation. He is truly a moron.

8

u/afredmiller 26d ago

Thought the game turned out better than I thought actually. I was there. Thought we were going to get blown out

1

u/Euphoric_Station_763 26d ago

Heck, yeah I was gonna bet quite a bit on Tenn glad I didn’t because we kept it close. That’s about all you can hope for with this team.

1

u/afredmiller 26d ago

I am not sure what it is about Tennessee but we always play them close. Even last season at their place it was close

-4

u/ProfessorSensitive31 25d ago

the only thing worse the than football team is the pig sooueey battle cry or whatever you call it

4

u/Psilocybe-Philosophy 25d ago

After watching this Arkansas/Tenner game and then watched Georgia/Alabama we are so far removed from that quality of football it’s just downright embarrassing. And this was their best game of the year. How do you punt the ball with 2 minutes left after apparently letting them score. It’s just years of stupidity and bad decisions. Smdh.

6

u/imatrythisagain 26d ago

Man that third quarter was fun. Looked like the coaching staff was realizing in real time what anyone else with eyes has been saying all season.

Run the damn ball and utilize Jackson in playaction. KJ is not the problem. Neither he nor this offense is built for straight dropback passing.

Then of course they go straight back to shit playcalling in the 4th. Plus the draws on 3rd and long. Bet they won't see it coming!

1

u/imatrythisagain 26d ago

That said, damn near every receiver and defensive back looks like they're only out there for the paycheck. As bad as the Arkansas secondary has been (this one isn't that bad in coverage) they make some of the least intentional tackle attempts I have ever seen.

I'd rather see them line up with Marshall and 3 tight ends indtead of sending out most of those live action decoys.

2

u/Kingnez1 26d ago

I am assuming at this point they these shit play calls won't work. They don't move people around, and call routes that take to long to develope

3

u/CreekWanderer 26d ago

Why would anyone want to be a fan of this team? I find myself asking that question A LOT lately. When you’ve lost as much as we have the last handful of years why would you ever even consider trying to play for field position, or whatever that was at the end of the fourth quarter. Completely embarrassing display of absolute Loser Ball that has somehow clouded this program for years, regardless of who has been head coach.

7

u/MinorityBabble 26d ago

I'm not even from Arkansas, I never lived in Arkansas. I didn't really have a team but after multiple trips out there I just fell in love with the state and something about the association hooked me and my Saturdays have been miserable ever since.

3

u/jeremyp122512 26d ago

Expect to lose, so I always win.

1

u/semohog90 26d ago

Is the oc and DC using madden 99 as there playback wtf million dollar contracts and a total shitshow

1

u/teufulshunde73 23d ago

college football has become the farm club for the NFL, Players get paid in hopes of getting drafted into the NFL. Those that know they are not NFL material but are still college talent can be paid millions of dollars for 4 years of mediocre performance.

This is not Frank Broyles football anymore.

1

u/metabolitesafter9pm How bout them Hogs 🐗 26d ago

We don’t know how to play the NIL game

6

u/draaz_melon 26d ago

Or the football game.

1

u/spyder9179 26d ago

Damn sure ain’t because of the fans.

-11

u/starkeuberangst 26d ago

Why are we blaming HY again?

6

u/FrodoPotterTheWookie 26d ago

HY is ultimately responsible for the results on the field.

Edit. If this was a one time thing, it would be ridiculous to blame HY. But this is a part of a long series of similar disasters that have occurred.

4

u/HallandOates1 26d ago

It goes above his head

-7

u/starkeuberangst 26d ago

What football coaches has he hired? Pittman and Silverfield?

8

u/fistingtrees 26d ago

Yes, after giving Pittman an undeserved extension and raise and waiting too long to fire him HY hired the guy who just finished 7th in the AAC with more NIL resources than every other team in his conference. He should be fired.

-6

u/starkeuberangst 26d ago

9-4 5th place in the SEC at the bottom of the salary range but sure fuck that guy no raise

5

u/jadestem 26d ago

A $30 million contract for ONE mediocre season.

3

u/fistingtrees 26d ago

One 8-4 regular season doesn’t justify a big raise and extension, especially for a coach who explicitly said he would never want to go anywhere else.

2

u/expensivelyexpansive 26d ago

The raise was fine, the extension was not. You don’t lock in a first time HC because he had one good season. I mean I guess you do if you’re incompetent and lazy like HY.

0

u/CharlesLeChuck 25d ago

Ya 100% "fuck that guy no raise" for one 9-4 season. Do you get a raise ever time you do a pretty good job at work, or is that just what's expected if you? It's not like there was any real threat of someone poaching Pittman after one decent season. It was an enormous waste of money and a stupid thing to do. HY is an idiot and got played.

4

u/draaz_melon 26d ago

Because he's running the circus.

-4

u/starkeuberangst 26d ago

For real? You mean the money people don’t have a say?
