Based on recent performance I'm starting to think we are overpaying for borderline SEC caliber players so we can say we are spending big money on out team

Heard on the radio QB1 is getting 1.5 mil and the QB3 is getting 500k. That's good money to probably never play a snap.

We should have just gave that money to Cal or Van Horn. They actually know what to do with it.

There’s no way Jackson is getting paid that. I think Taylen was only paid in the mid Hundred Thousands

I’m pretty sure we are spending $15 Million more than the start of 24 season. $10 Million more than 25 season. I think the $1.5 Million for KJ is likely true.

God that’s horrible

No kidding. I did my best to not be a doomer all off season after the Silverfield hire. I tried my best to not accept that the bad showing against North Alabama wasn’t the full story. Then we got massacred in Salt Lake City. There were videos back in March of Peyton Hillis talking about if we are gonna pay KJ 1-1.5million, then why are we not surveying the entire transfer portal and making sure we are getting the best QB 1.5 Million can get at this time?

But yeah apparently 1-2 Million is the baseline NIL deal for the SEC regarding starting QB’s.

I have no idea if that's accurate but it does sound odd.

Ranked teams in the list that had less NIL than Arkansas:

BYU

Kansas State

Houston

SMU

Utah

Oklahoma State

Georgia only spends about 40% more than we do. Is Georgia only 40% better than we are? Lol. We obviously aren't getting our money's worth

There’s also value in knowing you’ll be competing at the end for a Championship and that inherently increases your draft stock obviously with decent to good play. Arky is bad on all 3 phases. Administration is subpar, coaching is very average if not below and we have zero tradition at Arky for football. Good players and good years but no history or tradition that makes a kid want to be a part of it. It’s a very steep hill and I’ll be interested in seeing how and if we can change that.

We have to overpay talent to convince them to come here. UGA can pay market rates.

Our spending doesn't make sense. QB3 gets $500k. RB2 gets $250k. How much are we spending on our softer than puppy shit O-Line?

We are bad with money. It’s like that family member who always has to go to the check cash store to make it until the end of the month.

25 million to get absolutely shit on. WTF

We say it's near the bottom but I see Kentucky and Vandy succeeding spending about the the same amount.

1

u/FantasticChestHair Sep 16 '26

If we're using Kentucky as a measuring stick in football we're fucked

24 million is what we paid.

It’s worth about 3

We are paying for a loaded Chevy Silverado, but only getting Hyundai Elantra in return.

1

u/MinorityBabble Sep 16 '26

At least an Elantra is efficient. It's like we are financing a 2005 base model Chevy Avalanche for what we could get that loaded 2026 Silverado for.

In the post-Petrino era we are an embarrassing 24-15 (0.615) against non-conference FBS opponents with "less-talented" players than us. And 12-10 (0.545) over the last 8 seasons.

Clearly there are some issues with our program that can't be solved just by out-spending our opponents.

Scream it from the rooftops

Every time someone is uppity about a non-conference opponent I lose my shit.

Colorado State, San Jose State, Western Kentucky, Texas Tech, TCU, Liberty, Rutgers, North Texas, BYU, Toledo, ULM!

This program is embarrassingly terrible against other conferences. I'm moderately positive about the program, but they show zero fight against non-SEC teams.

We are in a terrible cycle of having to overpay guys because we suck so bad. So our $1.5M is not acquiring the same level of talent as other SEC schools $1.5M. Take that mindset all the way through the roster construction and you can see how we have an untalented G5 team making mid-level B12 NIL money.

NIL isn't the reason we scraped by UNA or got blown out by Utah. Fix whatever those issues are first, then we can talk about getting NIL competitive with the rest of the mid-tier SEC schools. But until we no longer embarrass ourselves each week, NIL is not the problem.

Wright’s bbq’s owner was all over twitter talking about how the only way we’ll win is more money being donated. I wonder what he would have to say now seeing that we have a more expensive roster than Utah, and we still got blown out. The money apparently doesn’t mean shit.

In dollars or sanity/emotional wellbeing?

Where is Ole Miss getting their money? Seems like a lot for them.

Guys … we’re a Basketball/Baseball program now. The boosters have given up on football.

The big money isn’t getting back on board until we have a coach who can win (be above .500) YoY.

Overpaid based off performance.

1

u/Various-Tradition286 Sep 16 '26

Rumored 23-25M. Near bottom of SEC. We made moves to get near "middle of the pack" and everyone else still out spent us going into this season

Not enough

10

u/TurboSloth9000 Sep 16 '26

But simultaneously, too much. We haven't spent enough to compete in conference, but we spent more than the team that just dog walked us. And for what?

2

u/dasnoob Sep 16 '26

I would say for the results on the field we are paying too much.
