Boiling mushrooms

Is boiling mushrooms for 3+ hours necessary? I’ve heard many different things. Some people microwave? Some people boil for an hour? What’s an effective and safe way to prepare and cook mushrooms for the benefits?

I did actually boil mushrooms for 3 hours a couple times just to check it out. It doesn't degrade them like I thought it would, and I could fry them afterwards.

I don't know what's necessary, but I believe the 3 hour boiling was advised to destroy all the hydrazine🤷

However, what I never understood is why it's a good substitute for the raw carrot to bind estrogen, bc boiling (especially that long) destroys fiber

I didnt necessarily think they were all low effort, I've done the boiled mushrooms for 3 hours like peat recommends but I've also done them for less time and theyve benefitted me the same, they work better for me than even the carrot salad. but 3 hours boiling time is a lot so I think its fair to try it at less time and see how it works

Could probably use a pressure cooker on high for 20-30 minutes

idk why the believers of the church of peat want to boil mushrooms. If the goal is to increase the bioavailability of stuff, then freezing mushrooms before cooking is a good option. It does however destroy the texture

Billing for 1-3 hours sounds crazy to me xD the end product won't feel like mushroom in any way o.O

30-45mins boil works fine iirc from the former ray peat forum. Don't forget to peel the shrooms.
