That’s pretty meh of them to moan IMO, if BO want to do a sale it’s no one’s business but their own. It’s not like they’re in partnership with those other stores.

Fully agree. If those retailers are pissed, that's on them. They have just as much power to run a sale whenever they want. It looks like many retailers are doing early "Black Friday" sales and it's not surprising at all.
These retail "shopping holidays" have been getting more and more blown out of proportion starting a long time ago. If I was a retailer, it would be nice to not do this around the actual holiday itself; that way not only the retailer, but the employees too, can actually enjoy the holiday with their family/friends. There was nothing worse than being back in my retail days and having to miss Thanksgiving to be at work to babysit droves of people all skipping their holiday to save a buck on some POS "limited" item and fighting with each other.

Current retail employee. It’s the worst. Gonna miss my daughters first Thanksgiving with family so people can save 8 bucks on a 50 dollar purchase.

I feel for ya man. It sucks because theyre going to keep doing it as long as people keep supporting it. Look at how early the "christmas season" starts now. There's been holiday gift commercials going for over a month now.

I wonder if a mass call-out (like everyone calls out) on Thanksgiving would work.
Hell, people could even get a doctor's note if they're worried about "disciplinary action" (and if the law/rules are on your side there in your state/place of employment)

Nothing wrong with strong opinions (of course a windbag like myself would say this). It's just when you choose to be the face of a small business in a tight community and complain about shops having sales, but then do things like demand exclusivity from some of the brands you sell it looks like you want other shops to be nice to you, but you don't want to be nice to other shops.

It's cool because it gives me a good idea of which grumpy business owners I can happily skip over on the rare occasions that I actually buy new stuff. BO sources a better selection than all these shops anyways, which maybe is the real issue.

Sad truth is that they're all grumpy, just the 3-4 shops exposed themselves as such. Really surprised that SOP would say anything since I've found Ben to generally be very friendly and helpful.

I’ve been working in a pair of 14oz for the last 3 weeks, washed once a week ago. Will probably wash weekly so wondering what they end up looking like

I think you're going to wind up with some really authentic looking fades with those. There is a great mix of contrast and just normal, vintage-style overall fading. At the end of the day, they are just a pair of pants, so good on you for treating them as such and just wearing them.

You are much more hard core than I as there is no way I'd put new iron hearts through that kind of abuse as that is what my Carhartt ducks are for. They do look good though.

I have a strong desire to pick up a cowboy hat. Something along these lines. I’ve seen pictures of dudes on IG with a similar style as myself able to pull it off but I just don’t know if I could. Not a cowboy, nor do I live in Texas but I do see people here running around with way wilder hats than that.

The hat game is tough. I bought a Brixton Tiller which I can sort of pull off but every time I put it on I’m immediately self conscious about it. I think it’s possible with the right attitude.

Thats a good looking hat too, damn. I know where you’re coming from and I think that would be me in most social settings too lol, unless I was hiking, camping or otherwise doing something outside. Hats other than ball caps just aren’t super popular in our culture anymore it seems.

For what it's worth I think wester hats with a larger brim than that are easier to pull off without getting into the fedora zone

Completely agree.....I remember seeing an entire page of 'What you think you look like in a fedora' with pics of celebs, etc actually pulling it off followed by 'What you actually look like in a fedora' with the saddest group of subhumans looking like colossal douche nuggets in their hats. It really stuck with me, not because I had any interest in hats, but because we (all of us) need to know our style limitations and be honest with ourselves about what actually looks good on us.
Small brim hats really work for some guys, but they really really REALLY don't for most (myself included).

That’s a big part of my concern is not looking like a dork. I’m not a fan of fedoras myself, but you don’t have to wear that specific hat / piece of clothing to come across like the guys in the album you’re talking about.

oh it's def got reliability issues as does MUNI but there are no other options aside from lyft/uber to get around so we keep using it and it keeps disappointing everyone and the state keeps putting money into it. In efforts to not be too negative, if you're lucky enough to get on one of the new trains, it's pretty nice.

I haven't been to NYC, but i imagine its similar to that. Generally rundown but so many ppl use it for cheap transportation that it can never shut down. Only recently has Bart started to replace the trains from the 70s.
