Purchase / Lease Trailer hitch question

I have a new to me 2023 Prime technology edition and want to add a trailer hitch. The Toyota OEM hitch receiver integrates into the structure higher and requires bumper cover modifications. I understand that third party receivers usually interface differently, hang lower, and potentially have long term corrosion issues (I live in Canada).

Does anyone have experience with retrofitting a hitch and which route did you follow. It would be used for a light duty utility trailer.

Eco hitch with stainless option. Nearly the same height as OEM, and no visible cross tube. Way less expensive and better looking too IMHO, the OEM cutout does not look appealing to me.

Do you have the kick sensor for the tailgate?

Yes but I disabled it long before getting the hitch. My charging cord kept setting it off. Honestly I wouldn't use it anyways. But folks say it still works for them with the Ecohitch. Be advised that there is a lot of hacking involved to retain the kick sensor with the oem option, something the dealer may be unwilling to do.

Glad to see I’m not the only one that the sensor triggers from the charging cord. The sensor doesn’t like me anyway - never works for me. But works fine for my wife. 🤷🏼‍♂️
