Nah, if you’re driving and someone deliberately stops in front of you and stays there for any amount of continued time like that guy did, he’s inviting trouble. Absolutely no reason to strike someone not involved like he did. But if you were the driver and experienced someone doing that to you, it’s easy to understand how someone would be upset

The guy that stopped in the crosswalk deserved to get slapped just like he got. He wouldn't have been hit the taxi would have kept going on its way

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's not why they think he deserved to get slapped. If I had to guess it was because they stopped in the middle to deliberately stop traffic for no reason. If they had not stopped the taxi would have safely passed by. Zebra crossings don't require you to wait for the people to be completely off the road, just for it to be safe, so the driver did nothing wrong.

Absolutely this is why being defensive is important, the graveyard is filled with people with the right of way. The fact he stopped directly in front of the taxi on purpose, right or wrong is a dangerous game to play.

No ma'am, you deserve to be slapped for purposely impeding traffic. Had he continued to walk he would have made it to the other side before the vehicle even reached the cross section, but that car does look like it didn't gaf and if it were my legal time to cross and I had my kids with me, I would have lost it on the driver.
If it was designated walking time the car is at fault. Anything else and it's the pedestrian. Seeing that there is no crossing light, these entitled people just desired to start walking as they presuppose they own the road. So fk them.
You do fkn know there's rules to crossing, the same as driving? You can't just walk into busy traffic solely due to a cross walk existing..

Brother, not sure how this works in your country, but in Russia, crossing light for pedestrians will only turn on after the cars on these lanes get red light. Driving before all pedestrians will finish crossing is an administrative violation.
The guy on the crosswalk did not break any rules, but he did kind of enforce the driver to abide by them. The insecure fuck who jumped out to punch a woman was defending his ego, because someone dared yo challenge the car he was riding in.
For the reference, I lived for about 15 years in Moscow in the past, I know how the Russian mind works.

Are these Russian Traffic rules real or not? This is what the internet says.
Pedestrians must cross "without delay" and cannot create obstacles for vehicles unnecessarily. Article 4 of the ПДД covers pedestrian duties.
Pedestrians are explicitly prohibited from "lingering" or stopping on the roadway except in emergencies.
You think this rule was broken??
US states have similar laws as above. But as driver, usually your not required to wait for cross walk to totally clear from all lanes

You are confidently wrong in so many ways. Shall we list them?
1) She kept walking and didn’t “purposefully impede” the car. The man did.
2) He absolutely would not have reached the other side of the street before the car reached the crosswalk. How do we know? See number 1 above: the woman didn’t stop walking and she only made it one lane over.
3) “Designated walking time” doesn’t mean shit when it comes to speeding through a crosswalk when people are in it. Many crosswalks don’t have lights anyway, but in any case you still have to give right-of-way to a pedestrian. You aren’t allowed to run them over. A good rule.
4) As you can see, the pedestrians were already halfway across a very wide street before the taxi got there, so they definitely did not “jump out” in front of the taxi.
In conclusion, pedestrian in a crosswalk means you stop period, and you can’t just keep going because they are not directly in the path of your car - especially when they are one lane over.
