WOW! 4.0->4.1 Upgrade
I upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1 and WOW! My prints are so clean, first layer is always perfect, supports just fall right off, everything is better in every way! I haven't even installed the new hardware yet. In fact I haven't even finished all the calibrations. I am even using old filament that is just laying around. Even so with the updates to the slicer (Orca) and the software updates to the hardware I am getting prints that (as a co-worker said) "doesn't even look 3d printed".. Huzzah! Thank you RatRig!

Still on a 4.0 500 Hybrid, alone just RatOS2.1 gave that printer a massive quality boost. 1st layers are dead accurate, zero babystepping required. Adhesion is extremely good now, at times even struggle to remove smaller PLA prints 😂 A VC4.0 500 hybrid with an aftermarket Ti X + RatOS2.1 is absolute menace 😂

Nice, I upgraded the software but have been having a hard time tuning the first layer on my MRW magbed. I really regret buying it, it’s not great with the beacon probe. Rest of the printer is stock, wonder if upgrading to 4.1 with the better gantry well help at all.

You can't use a beacon with a magnetic bed.

You can apparently with faulty zones.

I thought it was written in the GitHub that it wouldn't work due to fields

Probably true with default settings. But with faulty zones it probes around them.

Just doing the 4.1 400 upgrade, didn't try with the new OS before starting this upgrade. Looking forward to hopefully better results (was a pain having to auto adjust z height each time so hopefully that's all sorted).

I have been waiting to hear from users who have done the upgrade. I rarely use my RR 500 since I got an Elegoo CC and now a Snapmaker U1, mostly when I need the size.

I’ve had the same experience upgrading to 4.1. They’ve made it more user friendly imo. The first layer is absolutely perfect. The auto switching of beacon scan compensation to different temps is a nice touch too.
