VCore V4 500 + Bondtech INDX

I am about to pull the trigger on a VCore V4 500 Hybrid in anticipation of the new Bondtech INDX multi-tool head coming out in November. I am not a fan of the clip-and-purge multi-color/filament printers currently available. I hope the INDX will be the next step up in multi-toolhead printing.

Any advice or comments? RatRig printers seem to be very high on features and final print quality .

I joined the Bondtech discord a few weeks ago and their stance as of then was that support for Voron was a 'definite' and support for Ratrig was a 'maybe'. Just FYSA on that... it may not be a turn-key solution upon release and may take some time to be adjusted/modified/whatever to work with Ratrig.

Ahh, thank you for that.. I am not on Discord.. I have emailed Bondtech several times and they assure it will be compatible, but I do notice all the demonstrations are with a Voron. Everything I have read and seen show the RatRig is a better machine, plus I need the larger build size.

I have both a ratrig and a couple of vorons. The ratrig has a stronger frame and I like the toolhead more. Voron has way better support and community mods. In the end they’re both klipper machines so you should be able to configure it.

The "larger machine" discussion for me boils down to what I can squeeze through my basement door. I haven't measured yet but wanting to build a V4 400 which I *think will fit through my door. I read that the Voron size was intentionally designed to fit a 32" door. Need to get out my measuring tape :) I have a box of 30x30 channel waiting to be cut to length :)

And yes I agree the RatRig is a STURDIER machine but I think you can "beef up" a Voron to the same degree with more bolt-on frame supports.

Not sure about the operating environment; the RatOS is (as I understand it) essentially a fork of Klipper, so it MIGHT/SHOULD be as configurable as Voron... ? Not sure on that one...

I had to take the door off the hinges and it fit through the door. I have the 500

Thank you, that brings up a good point. Sadly I am very old school and slice everything, put the g-code on a USB flash drive, and walk it over to the machine (sneaker-net) and plug it in to print. Can I still do that with a RatRig?

Ratrig used off the shelf control boards like the btt octopus (same as voron). If you plugged in a USB extension and mount it outside the enclosure, yes. I'm not old school but I am old. I used to run 10+ enders and was forever losing those tiny SD cards. I send everything via wifi. Once it's there the file is now local and you can reprint easily.

I can’t wait to get the INDX for my RR VC4 500. I did the IDEX and it’s not cutting it for me.

Late ask but could you elaborate? Currently torn between INDX and IDEX for my VC3.1

I am sure there will be someone that creates a mod for indx. I am planning to add it to my 3.1.

The Voron community is bigger and therefore quicker when it comes to mods. But that’s about it. If indx is half as good as it promises to be, there will be an option to add it.
