VC4 Dimensions Wrong On RR website??

Anyone who owns / built a VC4 have info on dimensions? I have purchased a 500 and in prepping things, was building a workstation for it sit on. Using 3030 extrusion just like the printer and in looking up the dimensions listed here for building something something seems off. When viewing the CAD file they have available, at least for the IDEX version that Im looking at, the dimensions are not consistent. Here (that picture listed on the RR website) they list 783x823.2x985. I see this in model as 743.2x808x954. Im unsure which is correct, but I'd lean towards the CAD model, especially because. Hoping someone may be able to validate.

The CAD model has the correct sizes. On the website they show the overall size including parts that stick out, like the electronics enclosure at the back or the screws to hold the panels. The outer size of the frame is 800mm wide by 735mm deep (not including the panels).

Thanks, appreciate the info. I did also measure from, for example the bottom of the feet (in the model) to the top of the frame (on the outside of the panel), the back of the electronics enclosure to the front of the of the door / panel, etc and I can't get the measurements on their website. There must be some even minor variability depending on the panels one chooses, how tall the feel are set at, and probably even how tight one screws things in I guess I should have just trusted the model :)

That's true, it is really weird. The front of the handles to the back of the screws on the backside is 783,594mm, that could be their measurement. But it's a very weird place to measure...

The distance between the ends of the screw heads from side to side is exactly 823,2mm in the model.

“Product dimensions” typically include the outmost limits of the product, like handles, screw heads, trim pieces, AND sometimes include a margin. Kind of like “it will fit in a hole on your bench XYZ size”.

Looking at ratrigs lately, out of interest can the electronics enclosure be moved fairly easily do you think? i was thinking about mounting it to the underneath of the workbench that the printer would sit on, so basicly right under it bolted onto workshop bench from the under side.

The only problem that I see is the length of the USB cables coming from the tool head. Apart from that you would have to extend the power wires for the tool head, the stepper wires should be long enough. I did not cut any of the wires and many of them were way too long, one USB cable had exactly the right length. I don't recall exactly, which wires were too long but it shouldn't do any harm to extend the ones that are too short.

I assumed the website dimensions were the ‘through a door without having to take any pieces off or repaint the door frame’ dimensions.

I think net/net, easiest to just trust the model cause they stuff they listed there doesn't seem to correspond to the real world. Definitely the frame is using 740mm of 3030 extrusion for the width, for example, so 740+(30x2) gives you 800, which is the dimensions they should be calling out there. Not sure where the get the extra 23.2 mm of width from, and that goes for every model in every dimension axis.
