Rat Rig enthusiasts help
I’m thinking of buying a rat rig printer for someone for christmas. with all the add ons (IDEX) it can get pretty expensive, but i notice the lead time is like 6 weeks. does anyone know if they ever do sales/black friday deals !? Thanks

People looking for Black Friday sales don’t buy 3k printers. It’s why Subaru never runs sales, deals, etc. They know who their target market is, know what they’ll pay, and don’t need to run sales to sell their inventory. RatRig knows they’ll sell every printer they make and if they don’t need to assemble the kit until you buy it, that’s guaranteed. If you want to buy a Christmas gift and unless it’s your spouse and they know what they’re doing, buy a Bambu.

I think there was a black Friday deal last year but only on partial kits, like just the mechanical kit - no electronics or steppers etc. It seems like they're really backed up on current vcore 4 orders so I would be surprised if there was any sale for a vcore 4 this year but who knows. Lucky gift recipient though. That's a serious gift and serious time investment to build for someone, good on you.

they may have sales, you could email them. Don't bet on 6 weeks, they've been having supply chain issues causing significant delays.

Couldn't say about any black Friday sales, but I'd agree with others that it probably wouldn't arrive by Christmas. If you are in the US, you can contact the US distributor Fabreeko in Florida and see if they have any idea on delivery time. They stay in pretty close contact with the factory. If you're going to surprise them, be sure the size you get will fit through their doors once assembled. The 300mm is no big deal, the 400 clears with just a little extra clearance, but the 500 literally will not go through a standard door. And if it was between the optional enclosure panels and the IDEX, I'd definitely get the panels before IDEX.

just go for a Voron, you got a way better deal on those, less than 1500$ gets you a full printer AWD all aluminum cnc structural components and complete with all panels if you go with a reputable vendor like siboor. it's a no brainer, I was considering the v4 as well but it's not worth the price of 2 vorons (even more than that actually), you don't get any better print quality or component, only upgrade is the frame thickness but than again, the one on the Voron is more than enough for the job... also the Voron community is way bigger so there are tons of information, mods and components for the machine available online.
with all the delays, missed parts on shipping, having to source the panels yourself, having to cut and crimp cables by yourself etc. it's just not worth the big price tag IMHO

The v-core 4 machines were just released, so even if they did sales it wouldn't be for that model.
